Nature at Francis Creek
There is a creek which winds through the town with several bridges throughout town and access at the park. The boys love to follow the changes in the creek throughout the year. With the recent nice weather which was followed by light rain the creek is full enough to be fun but not so fast the boys can't play along the banks. It is their favorite place to visit during nature walk.
Today the boys saw a doe and 2 fawns which bounded down the dirt path to the creek. Last Thursday, we saw a tree laden with red berries full of red-breasted robins. The boys spent quite a while observing their comings and goings. There must have been at least 20 birds, a mix of male and female. We had fun listening to the baby birds and trying to figure out where their nests were located.
We brought the camera with us on our walk today in hopes of seeing the birds once again, but we didn't have any luck. The boys had fun climbing on the retaining boulders and retrieving small limbs from the creek to use as walking sticks. They used the sticks to measure the depth of the water and figured it was about 12" deep.
Here are some of the pictures we took.

D took this picture of his brother and the creek.
J took this picture of his favorite view of the creek. Just beyond the border of this photo is the sandy bank where the boys play and explore during the summer and fall. This is the area where all the children at J's last birthday party slipped and fell into the creek. They all went home soaking wet, but happy.
