My First Week On Day Shift
My first week on day shift did not go as well as I would have liked. None of the difficulties were related to work. The unfortunate events began last Saturday (while I was on-call for my last night shift). I began having trouble with my asthma. By the time we were supposed to leave for Sacramento on Sunday afternoon I was having chills and had a terrible cough. By Wednesday, the boys were sick and I was into my 4th day of having a fever. Therefore, I had to call in sick for my first scheduled shift on days.
Friday morning I was ready to work, but my car wouldn't start. I had to wait over an hour to get the car jump started. I was an hour late for work and my car died in the hospital parking lot. We had to drive up there today and have it towed to the dealership for who knows what repairs.
My actual work day was quite nice. Even though I was still recovering from being sick and distracted by trying to get the car fixed, I enjoyed myself a lot. I can tell that I will have more energy overall. Friday was a mellow day, but I could easily have done more work.
What I liked best is I woke up today well rested. I was able to clean the house, deal with the car, and spend time with my family. I like that one work day didn't effect 2 days. This will allow me to be more purposeful with homeschooling, help me whittle away at my multiple to-do lists, and allow for more adventures
