Distinctly Different

• Oct. 29, 2007 - Good Monday Morning!

What a week and weekend we had! Here's a quick rundown:

Wednesday, we had a former foster daughter return (again) homeless and pregnant.  She's 23 and this is her third child; the other two live with their grandpa's.  One fairly locally, one several hours away.  The oldest has been adopted by his Grandpa, the younger is expected to reunite with her dad and be raised by him and his father jointly.

The foster daughter stayed with us for three days while I got her into a  1- year residential program in a nearby town.  I hope she stays this time.  She has always left every program I was able to find for here, but this time she really seemed like she was at the bottom and might...MIGHT...try to get better.  I found the program, but made her do all the things required to enroll.  That way it was HER making the effort with me simply guiding.  She even walked across town and back to get some papers she needed.  I figured that once she left, if she really didn't want to do this, she wouldn't come back.  I was surprised when she did walk back and had the papers.  I get to call next Monday to see how she is.  Please pray for her!

Friday, after dropping her off, I found a source for raw goat's milk.  It isn't from a certified organic source like our wonderful Organic Pastures, but it is raw, and the dairy was pretty clean as I hoped.  The milk is sold only as pet food, but my Lambies are worth the best!  I am kefiring it as we speak!

Friday night we attended our best friend's Birthday/costume party. The Lambies were so excited to go to their friends home and play for an evening!
Left to right:
GirlofGod: a Narnian tree
BlackSpidey: a ninja
Trixie: a princess
Polly: a ladybug
EmBlem: an Indian
BabyJ: Black Spidey, of course!
Jack: Raphael TMNT
Miss Banana: a clown

We had a great time and had to tear the children away to finally go home!  You'd think we didn't see our friends at least every week!

Saturday began with a rally for Organic Pastures.
Some CA lawmakers have backdoored a law that greatly endangers our choosing to buy and consume raw milk.  Mark McAfee, the owner of the dairy and worldwide raw milk crusader, hopes that, with help from all the raw milk drinker in CA, we can get the law changed back before it goes into effect in January.  I was interviewed by the local TV news!  The segment is in the video feed to the left of the article.

Then we spent the afternoon with our dear friends.  It was their daughters third birthday.  We had lunch at Colorado Grill, the very best hamburger joint in Fresno, then spent the evening at their home.  The children played outside with a wagon, a hill and when it started raining, the mud!  They were such a mess, but had a great time.

We fellowshipped with our church family on Sunday, then off to the pumpkin patch we went.  BabyJ very nearly fell down a 15 foot drop.  He was running down a nice, wide path with his brothers and sisters, when he heard running water and decided to turn sharply and go off the path to investigate.  He nearly went over, but just in time, after circling his arms a couple of times like in a cartoon, he threw his weight back and sat on his bottom.  WHEW!  He would have survived, but been mighty scratched and banged up!

We had a great time otherwise.  Here are the Lambies with their pumpkins:
I'm glad to get the week started so we can get some rest!

I will be posting a funny story and a recipe for coleslaw on my recipe blog later today.

Blessings!
Momma

You were busy this weekend. Probably the most tiring part was working with you former foster daughter. Very emotional. I will be praying for her. Sometimes the wrong way is the only way some will choose.

I will be praying for your former foster child. Having adopteded 2 from foster care I real feel for both of you. My adopted dd has a very difficult time making the right decisions that will make her life easier. Hopefully she is young enough that with God's help and alot of prayer she will make it. I am glad that babyj was safe and sound from his near fall. Lastly, I love the narnia tree costume. That is very creative.
Blessings,

We have milk goats. We used to be able to get Raw Milk at the grocery stores many years ago - non pasturized and non homogenized.

People are so against raw milk that they pretty much put all the dairies out of business that did sell raw milk. It's a shame!
