On Saturday, my Honey and I went on a date. We attended our monthly Friends of the Library sale, at lunch at Applebee's (not that good, in my opinion...), tried to find an indoor range to go shooting (unsuccessful...we'll go to the outdoor range next time), went to the Outlet Mall and bought a few Christmas presents and new dishes for me!
On a side note, I was flabbergasted to see the Outlet Mall completely decked out for Christmas, blaring Christmas songs and all. For goodness sake, it was November 3rd! Most people were walking around in shorts! it was nearly 80 degrees. Seems we now go from Halloween (give me candy) to $mas (give me stuff)! I won't give that greediness the name of Christ. I am already sick of all the commercial-ness.
I really needed new dishes. We didn't have enough bowls for everyone anymore. My last set lasted six years, which was not too bad considering all the foster kids they endured! I had been considering Corelle, but had yet to find a design that appealed to me. I found, at a kitchen store, these, on clearance, and affordable! I am quite happy with my new dishes and the Lambies are having a contest...to see who can go the longest without chipping one! I hope it's a long-term tie for first place!
We bought the children a couple of large super-hero coloring books. They have been entertained during all free time since. Last night, my Honey made popcorn for everyone. They all gathered close together to watch it pop: I love EmBlem's little tongue sticking out in anticipation! BabyJ had a front row seat! See my kefir kefir-ing in the background?
I filled the cake plate with muffins for breakfast a little later on. The recipe and picture will be on my recipe blog later today. MMM..muffins and raw milk. A good sustaining breakfast....unless...
Uh. oh...Am I starving my kids, too, Katie? I don't have any FrootLoops in my pantry...I hope your Mouse doesn't follow me!
Your new dishes are beautiful!! I love the blue and flowers.
Your pictures of your kids coloring and making popcorn with dad are so heart-warming. Such a comfy/loving/ home.

The day after Halloween I was out doing some shopping. The stores had the Halloween things discounted and they were clearing off shelves for Christmas. Where does Thanksgiving fall into it all? Nowhere it looks like. Halloween gets more attention than Thanksgiving.
LOL about Christmas. I was at the grocery store earlier this week and was astonished that Christmas music was already playing. I thought that didn't start until at least Thanksgiving.
We barely had time to enjoy the fall decorations about town before they were ripped down and replaced with Christmas. I love Christmas decorations and such, but they are not much fun to me until AFTER Thanksgiving has passed.
The dishes you chose are lovely. I've had mine since 1993. I've broken a few along the way and chipped some too. They are Pfaltzgraf (spelling?), and were the dishes I chose for our wedding shower. I chose these heavy, simple white dishes for everyday use. I've enjoyed them a great deal over the years. As for Corel, my step mom has some of those that she's had since the 80's as far as I know. Seems like they last a long time too.
Anyway, hope you and your dh had a great date!
Blessings,
Missy
