Distinctly Different

We went to my in-laws house for Thanksgiving.  We had a wonderful dinner and fellowship with our family. My sister-in-law has a five week old baby boy, so I got to hold a newborn again.

My Honey, his dad, his sister, Dave, and some of the kids went shooting on Friday.  My sil, Jen and I took the rest of the Lambies to FairyTale Town and Funderland.  We had a great time, and took lots of pictures, but most were blurry.  My sil was using my camera, which is different than hers, and apparently, harder to focus.

Here are a couple of shots from the day:

The dragon coaster:

BabyJ on his first-ever solo ride.  He didn't cry at all!

The following day, My Honey, his Dad, his sister  and a couple of others went on a chartered fishing trip on "The Happy Hooker". They had a long, tiring day, but most caught fish, and the time was well spent!

Our drive went well, with no parking lot time spent on the freeway.  They have been improving the freeway for a couple of years, and it has finally paid off!  Usually we spend about 30 minutes parked waiting for traffic to creep along.

I was also able to take a picture of a cross-stitch that My Honey designed and I stitched for his Dad for a Father's Day present years ago. His father collects antique fishing lures and equipment.
My Honey just arranged the lures in a pleasing manner, looked at it and carefully drew them on graph paper.  Then he sat with my floss boxes and choose the right colors.  The tangled line on the top row is made with real fishing line and a real hook.  It stitched up pretty well, I think!

I also stitched him a poem, but forgot to take a picture:

"Now I lay me down to sleep
I pray the Lord my soul to keep
If I should die before I wake
I pray the Lord my gear to break
So no one else can use it!"

I adapted the poem from Shel Silverstein's "Prayer of a Selfish Child".

Please go to my daughter's blogs to see more pictures and read their accounts of things we did.  They will be writing their blogs a bit later today. Don't be afraid to leave them a comment!

What a clever idea. I never imagine cross-stitch as being that creative. I have always limited myself to the designs someone else has created. Thanks for showing me that it can truly be a self-expressive art form!
