Mom2fur here. I think the design for the afghan's parts could make nice dishrags or potholders, too. I can't wait to see the finished afghan!
I can't think of any Christmas books offhand. I'm more into the movies, like "A Charlie Brown Christmas."
I would love to share our list of Christmas books, but most of ours are wrapped up right now! (I have a recent blog post about this!) I wrap our Christmas books and we use them as our 'advent' calendar' during the month of December. Some of our favorites are: 'The Legend of the Candy Cane', 'The Legend of the Christmas Stocking', 'The Legend of the Christmas Tree', 'The Christmas Miracle of Jonathan Toomey'.
How neat. Are you trying to get this done by Christmas? I can't wait to see how it all comes together. I really like the idea in one of your comments about wrapping up a book and using it as an advent calendar. What a great tip. Thanks for sharing your afghan update.
Blessings

MamaLion of Shadybrook Acres JUST taught me to crochet last Wednesday. Crocheting seems to require a lot of practice (maybe just at first ?), but when I see these beautiful creations of yours I am inspired to keep trying.
