Bloomington - A Planned Parenthood nurse has been suspended after an anti-abortion group released a video showing her telling a patient who claimed to be 13 to lie about becoming pregnant by a 31-year-old man.
The video was distributed by Live Action Films, a pro-life student group which said it was shot secretly in June by 20-year-old UCLA student Lila Rose at Planned Parenthood's Bloomington clinic.
In the video, the nurse shows the "patient" a piece of paper, which Rose says indicated she could get an abortion in Illinois without parental consent as someone that young would need in Indiana.
Rose, who is the president of Live Action Films according to the group's website, has done similar videos at Planned Parenthood sites in Los Angeles and said Indiana was among many states where the group was going under cover.
Planned Parenthood of Indiana CEO Betty Cockrum says the organization places "incredible importance" on following the law requiring that sexual acts between an adult and a child younger than 14 be reported to police or child welfare officials.
Indianapolis - The Indiana Department of Child Services says it won't investigate a Planned Parenthood site in Bloomington after a worker was fired for violating policies on abuse reporting and intervention.
A conservative anti-abortion group sent a woman to the office who claimed to be a 13-year-old pregnant by a 31-year-old man.
The worker reportedly brushed aside that information when the law calls for any health care professional to report inappropriate relationships to CPS.
Planned Parenthood says it's retraining workers on mandatory reporting procedures.
