Distinctly Different

• Sep. 23, 2009 - Innocence Sept. 2009

Her's a new snapshot of my ongoing cross-stitch project.  It's called "Innocence".

I have this large row to finish, then another row about 2/3 of the size to finish up the bottom of her gown, her feet and the ground.  That might take as long as a year or so, depending on my facebook usage.    When I began this project, I estimated it would take about five years to complete.  I really should have written down when I began it, but alas, I did not.  I have video of Troubles when he was very little that has the stitching frame in the background, so I estimate that I started stitching sometime in early 2005.

Therefore, I declare myself right on track.

• Jan. 18, 2008 - SCF:Innocence

I thought that it's about time to show "Innocence" again.  I have been making progress!  I have officially completed HALF!  I've 12 pages done and 12 to go.

Here is the entire piece with a slightly-more-than-12"-ruler next to it.

And here's a bit closer view:

And finally, a close up of the babe:

If you stand back and look at the babe from farther away, you can really see how the shading makes the picture richly detailed.

Have a great weekend, everyone, and make sure to visit Waiting For Him and Show and Tell!

• Jan. 4, 2008 - SCF: Nutthin'

I really should be more organized.  I haven't any pictures of current projects.  I have been working on an outfit for my eldest daughter...it's half-way finished, Jack's blanket is still being assembled, the lovely yellow doily has stalled due to lack of matching thread...it's tragic! I can't find ANYTHING matching in any craft stores.  I'm not sure what will happen to it.  This is why you buy enough to make the project all at once.  Don't be like me and plan to use the four half-skeins you have left from other projects.  Just because they are all ecru doesn't mean they all match.

• Nov. 9, 2007 - SCF: GirlofGod's Dress

I finally finished GirlofGod's dress!  I sat down, practiced one more set of buttonholes, and did it!  I had to ask my Honey cut them open with his Exact-o knife, but other than that...I did it!  This was one of the hardest dresses I have made.

Here she is, so beautiful, don't you think?

I also have spent some time cross-stitching.  I have finished another page and am beginning page 12 of my chart.  When done with it, I am officially half way finished!  You can see Oct. 5th's  picture of my cross stitch here. I have finished her sleeve and the gown below it, and am working the brown, black and green background.  I'll take another picture near the end of this month to show my progress.

EmBlem will be choosing her fabric and pattern next week, so in a couple of weeks, I can show you hers!

• Oct. 19, 2007 - SCF: Doily

Good morning all you Crafters and Show and Tellers!  I have had a busy "vacation" week, and haven't done much as far as crafting goes.  GirlofGod's dress is waiting for buttons.  I have purchased them, but this is the first time I am going to be making buttonholes, so I have been practicing on other fabric until I get it really right!  I don't want to ruin the bodice when I make the buttonholes!

Here is a doily that I am very proud of.  I have made seven of these, all in different colors.  My thought was that each child, when grown and getting married, could choose one as a wedding gift. I need to make one more, for BabyJ and his future wife.  I guess I have a few years yet...It is something I want to get done this winter, though.
I change the color of the roses and the green accordingly.  All have the same ecru portion.  Anyway, enjoy!  I hope to have finished the dress by next week, and I will probably post some of Jack's afghan, too!

BTW, I have a guessing game for you to participate in here.  I will be posting the answers later today! Come play along!

• Oct. 12, 2007 - SCF: Trixie's Dress!

I finally have a picture of Trixie in her new dress!  Here she is:
It is a little too big for her, but that just means that she can wear it for longer!

I have cut GirlofGod's dress, and will begin assembling it today. She's so excited!

I have made a few more blocks for Jack's blanket, and really should focus on getting that done.  It's become cold here!  We're all *actually* using blankets.

• Sep. 28, 2007 - Sew Crafty Friday: Completed Projects

I have pictures today!!

Here's Polly in the dress I made her:
I think she's lovely!  I have Trixy's dress finished, except for a few decorative buttons I need to purchase this weekend and add.  So look for that next Friday!  I have also begun a camo afghan for Jack.  He wanted one just like his brothers, but I am making it in a different shaped pattern. GirlofGod is begging me to begin a dress for her now.

• Sep. 21, 2007 - SCF: Afghan and dress

I have been so busy this week that I haven't taken pictures for Sew Crafty Friday!!

I completed BlackSpidey's camo afghan and added the border.  He has been happily using it this week.  The weather has changed here and it's perfect timing!  Yesterday was only 78 and it rained in the evening.  Today is forecast to be 77, with more rain expected this weekend.

I also cut and sewed another dress, this time for Polly.  It's the same pattern as Miss Banana's dress and the fabric is a lavender and white flower/speckled print.  It looks great on her!  She'll wear it to church on Sunday.  I'll try to remember to ask my Honey to upload photos sometime this weekend,

Head on over to Shereen's blog for more "Sew Crafty Friday"!

• Sep. 14, 2007 - SCF: Dress for Miss Banana

I almost have BlackSpidey's afghan together, so you'll see it next week.  I also finished BlackSpidey's pajamas.  I didn't take a picture of those, though.  They are a simple "scrubs" like pattern done in a black material with flames all over.

This week, I also made this beautiful dress for Miss Banana:

This was one of the easiest dresses I have ever made!  It was cut and finished in a little more than a day. It also has a cute little headscarf that I
forget to have her wear for the picture.

It's made from Simplicity 3860.

So that's what I did crafty this week! Visit Waiting for Him for more craftiness!

• Sep. 7, 2007 - Sew Crafty Friday-Camo

Sew Crafty Friday is hosted by Shereen.  Thanks for putting this together!

I have been working on making an afghan little by little over the spring and summer.  It's for my eldest son, BlackSpidey, and by default, since they share a bed, my youngest son, BabyJ.  My son loves everything having to do with soldiers and camo, so he requested an afghan made from camo yarn.  He sleeps very warmly, not even using a sheet lots of the time, so needed a light afghan.

I made this pattern because it's open and as light as yarn can be, without looking lacy.  I have 34 squares completed and think one more, with a border, will do it!  It'll be done just in time for fall.

Blessings,
Momma
