livin' it up at home

• Jul. 24, 2006 - Yellowstone vacation

We took a little family vacation to Yellowstone National Park June 27-July1st. We had a great time. I was in fact very surprised at how much fun we had. We camped, in a tent, on the ground, in the dirt, in the mountian and we still had fun!!! I knew that most of us would enjoy themselves but it was myself and "Red1" who I was not so sure would have fun. She said to me before leaving, "You do know there is NO electricity, dont you" LOL  It was a fun trip even without electricity!  We met some friends who had moved and it was the first time we got to meet their newest child. "Red4" really enjoyed playing with him but she was not in a rush to give up her spot as the baby of our family for a baby of our own. That's ok, she can stay the baby. We got to see lots of animals, not bears or wolves, which was on the boy's list to see. But we did see buffalo, elk, deer and a coyote. Some of the signs talked about "millions" of years which the oldest two joked about and thought was pretty "dumb" They came home with wild flowers to dry for their nature journals and some fun memories. The best part is we are going to go camping again!!

Great pictures. My husband and I would really love to go to Yellowstone. We thought we might go this year, but it didn't work out. A full 3 days' drive each way with young ones, plus all the riding once we got there, didn't really seem like fun. And, flying for a family of 6 is outrageous. So, we put it on hold for a while. Hopefully, we'll get there one of these years soon.

HI there! Got your link off the Elem Ed Apologia yahoo group. Love your photos! Your children are so cute! I love your homeschool room! Maybe when we leave Japan in a few years, we'll be able to have one ourselves. We're doing astronomy this year. Have you done it yet?

Not only fun, but educational! And you were able to see things that were "millions" of years old.... ;) ha ha. I am sure the children will be talking about this vacation for a long time to come. You have been blessed with a beautiful family!

What awesome pictures of your beautiful children, and the neat scenery too.
Vacation's are such special memories for the children, it's always a bonus when the parents have fun too.

Wish we could have met you there.
We had so much fun there last year, and at the Tetons.
We'll be going back. If we go back through South Dakota, would you be on our route?

Blessings and thanks for your sweet comments on my blog,
Linda.

love it, that your children are knowledgeable about the young earth.
Great job mom!

My oldest always chuckles about the million years thing too.
She rolled her eyes at Disney this winter when we were doing
the Bill Nye the Science Guy and Ellen through the Dinosaur years.

Glad you are enjoying my book recommendations.
I have another review coming soon.
