Apr. 2, 2008 - Completed our First Lapbooks
We just completed our first lapbooks and I can tell you they will not be our last! We loved them. We did them on polar animals, igloos and penguins. I just checked out eveything I could find at the library and we read and read and read some more. What a great way to learn. The kids did not get the idea at first but once all the things were done that were going into the books and I laid a book out on the floor so they could see what I was talking about they got very excited about doing one. They did the same items for their lapbooks but they got to plan where they would place them inside the book.
Some of the books we used .
Cade plans his book.
Chesney is "Queen Messy Desk" at our house! I tell her everyday to clean off her desk, you can see how well she listens! Oh well as long as she can do her work, right?
Chase deep in thought as he puts his book together.
Chesney proudly displays her book.

We enjoyed doing our first books so much that Chesney will be starting a lapbook on counting and Chaya will be doing one on Amelia Earhart. (Chaya did not do a polar animal book) Chase, Cade and Chesney will be doing one for science based on a book called "Crawdad Creek" I think we may be hooked!!!

Those look SO nice; lapbooks are a lot of fun! We did one on explorers (with the Amy Pak unit materials) and one for Thanksgiving (freebies online) but haven't made any since. You've inspired me to try to make one up for our plants unit.... which I'm supposed to be lesson planning now!
I also like Chesney's Pretty Pink Painted Paper Plate Pig! (named Petunia??)

Those are great. Did you make up your own templates, or get them from somewhere? We finished a horse lapbook, but it was all premade. I'd like doing one on our own, but don't know if I'm that creative!
marissa has those same penquin pj's. She loves them.

I have a huge file in my favorite places for lapbooks but I think most everything for these books was printed for free(got to love that) from homeschool share.

Thanks for dropping by. I have a friend that has done the lap books w/ her kids. I have seen them and they are really neat.
I had help w/ my blog. Ali from Mission Field Designs did most of the work. She made the template for me and told me how to add the graphics. I took it from there. Thank you for your compliment.
Visit again soon.

It's nice to meet you. Hope you can stay and visit longer next time. I understand about those busy days. Sometimes, showers are optional around here (not too often though). Actually, I'm having one of those days myself. Need to be out of here in 1/2 hour and still in jammies reading blogs. I think it's either a time-management issue, priority issues, or possibly OCD. Gotta Run! Have a Blessed day.
