• Sep. 17, 2008 - Poetry Appreciation

Posted in homeschool

We are using Language Lessons for the Little Ones #3 for Cade this year. This is written and published by Queen's Homeschool supplies. We are using different books in the series for all 4 kids and I really like them. Very sweet and Charlotte Manson flavored. The lessons are short and the kids seem to enjoy the books. Today Cade had a lesson on poetry appreciation. He listened to me read a poem and them draw a picture of what the poem made him think of. The poem was "The Night Will Never Stay" by Eleanor Farjeon. I want to share Cade's picture.

I am sure you can tell it is a tree in the forest at night. See the stars and the black sky.

Enjoy

UPDATE: I am listing the poem so you can get a better feel for the poem and why Cade draw what he did.

"The Night Will Never Stay"
(Eleanor Farjeon)
The night will never stay,
The night will still go by,
Though with a million stars
You pin it to the sky;
Though you bind it with the blowing wind
And buckle it with the moon,
The night will slip away
Like sorrow or a tune.

My older girls used to enjoy illustrating poems. Glad he enjoys them.

We used Queen Homeschool products for the first time this year and love them! My son went through almost the whole cursive primer in one week though! (When he gets on a roll with something, he doesn't want to stop.) I even caught him working on it when he was supposed to be asleep. Great products!
Thanks for the hair info. We found some really cool sparkle hairspray that has been keeping Nature Grrrl happy! :)
I am trying out blogger:

I haven't heard from you in a long time. Just thought I'd pop in and say hi. Are you snowed in yet. Unbelievably, it has snowed here in TN 3 times in the last couple of weeks. None of it stuck, or course, but it makes me wonder about the winter to come.

About Me

The life of a homeschooling mom of 4. Loving the life God has given you, homeschooling, growing in the word, letting God lead and me follow, dying to self. Who would have thought I would grow into someone I thought a few years ago was a wacko!!
