We had a wonderful time at the zoo and truly enjoyed meeting two other homeschool families from our area.  Chicken, Bubba, and Lae had their free passes to the zoo from completing their library summer reading program.  Both of the moms I met were from an online message board.  They were both very sweet and their children were lovely.  Hopefully we can take more trips together!  Here are some pictures from our day:

We learned that millipedes can't hurt you, but centipedes can.  How can you tell them apart?  The millipedes have rounded backs and the centipedes are flat.

Our trip to the Children's Museum of Tacoma

In our Adventures studies we are learning about the importance of names and how they help to identify who we are.  Here we made a name cake (well, mom and dad just received our "titles")

So, do you think there is a difference between a name and a title?

It's been a while since I have written.  But, with hubby overseas, I thought it was time to jump back on the blog train.  To give me something productive to do on the computer (computer-holic that I am), and to keep my dear hubby updated to what is happening on the homefront.  DH has been gone for about 2 months, and is due to be gone for about another 2 months.  So, we are trying to stay busy around here and not think about how terribly long it is before Daddy returns.

We have started our new school year.  We are using Adventures in My Father's World for 2nd grade with Chicken and My Father's World Kindergarten for Bubba.  Chunky is going to be doing some preschool things and Bean is going to be working on Slow and Steady, Get Me Ready.  Chunky and Bean are also going to be doing Baby Math.

We do not get much snow here in the Pacific Northwest, so, when we do, it is a big thrill !
