Okay...am I the only who thinks that saying this word sounds like someone sneezing? =oP Alright, that aside, here is my first attempt at haiku. I don't know if it follows the rules exactly, but here it is:
Crisp smell in the air
The crunching beneath my feet
I welcome autumn
Please, feel free to applaud mightily, and toss your accolades upon me. =oP

Wonderful, bravo!! I applaud your attempt to step out of your comfort zone and try something new. :) I did so myself just today. Should be blogging it soon.
Here was my best attempt at haiku in 4th grade (yes, I saved it...I am Laurie, call me 'geek'...teehee)...
The playful rabbit
jumping and hopping around...
the coming of Spring.
Ahem. I was (and still am) better at limericks...
There once was a farmer from Quig
who thought that his cow was a pig.
His dog, of course,
he thought was a horse.
Apparently he flipped his wig!
Ahem (again). The silence is deafening over here.
Did you see my latest one just a few months ago??
There once was a man from Missouri
Who’s bay window caused him some worry
So the ceiling he gutted
And the drywall he mudded
And now he is not quite so surly.
OK, poet I'm not. Enjoy your foray into it anyway! :)
