• Tuesday, June 5, 2007 - May Day Weigh In

Posted in Health

We went away for the weekend. We are back and I totally lost motivation.  I can't even seem to get motivated to keep up with my walking goals.   I figured hey I really don't need to lose THAT much.  I am ok the way I am.   And I am!  But, I have been creeping up.  I don't feel as good as I did when I was maintaining a good diet and walking almost daily.  (By diet I don't mean a "diet" in the usual sense of restrictive eating.  I mean a generally healthy way of eating.")

I was planning on deleting my May Day button and not blogging anymore about it. Then I was browsing this morning and read this.

If I don't get those lifestyle changes consistent.  I will just keep creeping back to the way I was. I can't believe I am going to do this but...... here are my  before - after pictures from a few years ago.

Quality is not good because these have been posted on my fridge for a few years.  Currently I don't look like the before.... but I would love to get back to the after.  .........  And I will!

So all that to say I have not gained..... but I have not lost either.  I set a new walking goal for June.... here it is the 5th, I better get started.

I also better blog about something more interesting than diets!!

May Day Challenge

I lost 1.5 lbs.   I am not sure how accurate that is, my scale is not very good.

Walked = 3 days

Water goal reached =3 days.

This has been a hard week to start this.. ….. Uh is that an excuse coming out of my fingers??

Where I failed

First I didn’t really have very many good food choices in my house. I live far enough out of town that running to Safeway was not an option. So I did the best I could with what I had but….. well…. not enough variety of healthy foods made for many little snacks that weren’t needed.

Light bulb moment!!  If I don’t have any fresh fruits or veggies, then not only am I not eating them, neither are my boys. Hmmmmm.... may be a side benefit if the family gets healthier too.

I went to a Pampered Chef party last night. I knew that temptation would be high. I ate before I went, I agreed with myself that I would  "try a small taste" of whatever they made. I should have known better. They made a yummy green salad with lots of different veggies and chicken. So far so good. Then came the MAIN EVENT. Dessert with coolwhip, fruit, cream cheese, lime sherbert, lime wedges, pound cake, evaporated milk….   I not only had a "regular helping" I had a 2nd helping!!!!!!!

Where I succeeded.

I did the best I could. At home I ate as healthy as I could with what I had and …… I didn’t gain!!!

I went shopping yesterday and got low fat stuff (y'know dressing, cream cheese, coffee creamer, etc), and lots of fresh fruits and veggies. Some wraps for lunches.  This week will be easier.

I got a juicer!!  I ordered a juicing book from paperback swap. I also ordered from Amazon the one reccomended by Gayle.  I've already made some yummy fruit juice and my boys like it, even the the big boy (Tim).   Now to experiment with veggies.  The boys might not go for that.    I want it for ME.

Until next week.

• Friday, May 11, 2007 - Juicing anyone?

Posted in Health

Idid it!   I bought a juicer.

Just last week I was discussing healthy eating with a friend of mine. She mentioned really liking her juicer. I was out this morning yard saling and what did I find??

Yep a Champion Juicer. $50.00  - I bought it.

I told my husband and he rolled his eyes and said are we gonna have 50 bucks worth of juice? ::)

So I need your HELP!! I need juice recipes for REALLY yummy stuff. Even if it is not the most healthy thing out there. As long as it is moderately healthy and REALLY yummy. I need to proove that this was not a dumb idea. I know nothing about juicing.

BTW I also went to a Library book sale. Now have 3 boxes of new books. ;D I wonder why the library is getting rid of these really good books? I don't get it.

I also found Elementary Apologia Zoo 1 at another yard sale...... for a buck.  I already have it but I couldn't pass it up.   I'm giving it to my friend.

A local bank was giving lunch away. So we got free lunch too.

What a fun morning.

• Wednesday, May 9, 2007 - May Day Challenge

Posted in Health

Ok so I am late already.  I was supposed to post this yesterday.  But I am not giving up.
The instructions for the May Day Challenge are to give your weight story.

I had my last son 4 years ago this month.  This pregnancy I got HUGE!!  After I had him I lost a bit of baby fat but not nearly enough.  I am NOT telling how much but it was definately NOT where I wanted to be.  I was motivated and my DH was motivated enough for me, that he said ok to weight watchers.  I always thought it would just be a rip off.  It can get expensive.  I went to meetings for about a month and was losing fast!!  I decided that the meetings themselves were really not doing me any good.  I didn't know anyone and so acountability was not really there for me.   However I continued following the program on my own, journaling and wieghing myself  weekly. I continued to lose.  A total of 29 pounds.  I walked almost daily, I felt good, my husband LOVED it.

I am now 15 pounds above my goal weight and I am refusing to go there.  I need to buy bigger jeans.....   NO!   I refuse.

So here I am.    I am in!

I will post:
gains and losses weekly
how many days I walked - (I need to see if I can find that little walker ticker again)
how many days I reached my water goal

The thoughts and reflections of a mom who loves being at home, and is doing all she has ever desired in her life..... Really... I love my life that much!

"And all thy sons shall be taught of the Lord, and great shall be the peace of thy sons.
In righteousness shall thou be established."
