So...this book challenge
I realized today, that I'm really not going to finish up my triple 8 challenge. I'm a little disappointed in myself. I only read 28 out of 64 books this year. I do realize there is another month and a half to go, but really, I might only read 2-3 more books. That's still no where near 64.
I think I set my goal to high. I like the idea of making a list, or at least tracking what I read. But I think I should lower the bar a bit this coming year. Especially with a new baby coming. My reading time will once again become very limited.
On a good note...I've made read alouds a much higher priority this year, and so far, so good! So far this year I've read aloud:
The House at Pooh Corner
Winnie the Pooh
Where Do You Think You are Going Christopher Columbus?
1607: A New Look at Jamestown
Numerous picture books (too many to list here)
And we're either halfway through or nearly finished with:
Paddle to the Sea
The Tale of Desperaux
A Lion to Guard Us
Plus, we read a poem every day (we're reading through A Child's Garden of Verses at the moment), 2 Aesop's Fables a week, and 2 bible stories and a saint story (from the Catholic Children's Bible and Once Upon a Time Saints) every week.
My goal is for well read children...I think we're well on our way!
