Ancient India! We took a quick look at a civilization that began near a river, as all the other ancient civilizations have, and were advanced enough to even have a plumbing system in their cities, allowing each house to have a bathroom! Just think, our country didn't have indoor plumbing until around the middle of the 1800's. Here is a picture of the Lego model the younger girls made of an Indian city.

We had guests from India on Thursday evening. I ended up making WAAAYYY too much food. I had all kinds of salad fixings (romaine lettuce, tomatoes, onions, cucumbers, radishes, etc...) and twice baked potatoes with mushrooms. They only ate some of the cucumbers along with 1 potato half. They had also brought a gigantic dish of rice and another vegetable that I can't even begin to pronounce of which they ate some. The rice was good, and that is coming from a non rice eater, as it had cashews, peas, carrots and some other things but it was spicy after a few bites. The orange vegetable dish was good too but it was extremely spicy so I only finished the little bit I had taken. I had meant to make some bread but forgot in time so I bought some white mountain. They didn't eat any of that.
We had an interesting conversation but dh carried most of it. I was having a hard time understanding them due to their accents. We discussed the difference in education, governments (they thought ours was not corrupt at all which we had to laugh at but it isn't in the way they meant) and touched on their religion. They seemed to have at least a base knowledge of Christianity.
The one thing that struck me out of the whole night though, was when he said he had been in our country for 5 years and last night was the first time he had been invited to someone's house. I was very saddened by that!
It was a nice evening and I think the Lord used it to show me how we have a mission field right here in our own back yard.
