Best Books for Understanding Your Man
There are three books I would highly recommend to any woman who wishes to communicate better, show more respect, or simply keep her sanity in a relationship with a man. Interestingly enough, two of these most helpful communication books I've ever read are not from a Christian perspective. But the brilliant common grace insights make them very important reading.
The one written by a Christian is "For Women Only: What You Need to Know About the Inner Lives of Men" by Shaunti Feldhahn. Read the Amazon reviews here. Warning: this is based on interviews with men and bluntly tells you what most men really think and want. Certain points may be hard-hitting truths that are painful to realize.
The best book for understanding simple and practical ways to show respect to your husband is "The Proper Care and Feeding of Husbands" by Dr. Laura Schlessinger. Read the Amazon reviews here. Basically, this teaches that men are simple creatures and need three things to be happy: good food, good lovin' and respect! Hubby was glad I read this one.
And the best detailed book on communication is "Men are from Mars, Women are from Venus" by John Gray. Read the Amazon reviews here. This was recommended to me before I got married and I think it saved me a lot of tears in the early years of marriage by realizing the different languages men and women speak. In the realm of communication we really are from different planets.
You may see these titles and authors and be doubtful, but you'll have to trust me on this. I believe your marriage will be better and your life will be happier if you read these books and apply the truths to your life. Our library has everything online now, so I've discovered I can search and request books from home and when I get the chance I run by and can quickly pick them up--it's easy! Finding the time to actually read them . . . well, that's a different story. |

About Me
My faith teaches me that the calling of Christian homemaker, wife, or mother is just as holy as one to "full-time ministry."
I am a mom of seven children ages nine and under (plus one on the way!) seeking and sharing helpful tidbits learned during this season of life. May we glorify and enjoy Him each day!
