My Life and Homeschooling

• Jul. 28, 2007 - Encouragement to those new to homeschooling

Posted in homeschooling

I always look forward to starting the new school year,  I did even when I was in school. We always start the first week in september. But for at least the first 4 years that we homeschooled I would get the the end of the fist week and want to throw in the towel. I was always ready to jump into a full school schedule.  But....my kids weren't.  They were still enjoying summer vacation.  They needed time to adjust to a new schedule.

So, every year I would cry to my hubby and saying, " we've made a mistake! Maybe we should send them to school!"  He would remind me that we made the right decision and  to give it time and it would work out.   And he was always right!  Every year I've been so glad we've chosen to educate our children at home.  There are so many advantages and blessings,  maybe in the next post I'll list some of them :)

Ahh.... the smell of new school supplies! The fact that they are all on sale helps too! This is my fourth year, and I am NOT ready yet! Busy..... spending too much time at the pool with the kiddos! Nice pics of all your beautiful kids!

Thanks for the encouragement :) I am new to this wild ride, and it helps to remember such wise words. Thankfully, a good friend (and vet hsler), advised me to take it easy and add a few things a week until up to speed. With a new baby, I think that advice will come in especially handy this year!

Hi, my daughter and I have decided to give homeschooling a try this year. She is going to be starting grade 5 in September. I'm not sure where to get the materials and am a little nervous about how we will get along - not having our time apart as we did when she attended regular school. I'm glad I found this blog, I look forward to reading and learning from it.
Take care,
Tanya & Sierra

To have a husband encourage you must be nice I struggle with that one. My husband wants the boys to be hs but he offers no real support if I get down or frustrated. so I thank God for my wonderful bloggy friend who are blessed in that area and use their words of wisdom and press on. I don't like the first week of school at all...my boys would rather play for a living and never have to sit down they are busy busy busy.
Blessings,
Lorri
