We had such a nice day yesterday! We stayed home all day -I look forward to days where I don't have to go anywhere. The boys stayed busy with creative activities thought the day -writing stories, building with legos, playing board games and drawing. In the afternoon we took a nice family walk up the logging trail again, something we've been doing more often. It's so beautiful and peaceful out there. We take Paige with us, and she does very well without a leach. There is a nice clearing part way up the trail and dh and the boys played Frizbee together and with Paige. We also found a baby snake and a salamander. When we got back, there was a porcupine in our yard. Andrew got out his camcorder and got some video. It just sat still then ate some grass and let us watch him for a while. We have a family of them here. One night we watched them all climb a tree. |

Yesterday my hubby and I took the younger two kids for a really nice walk up the logging trail behind our house. We wanted to take our daughter to see our neighbor's horses that we can see from the trail, but the horses weren't out. We'll try again though -Sophie loves horses. It was wonderful just to walk and talk with with my hubby. When the weather starts getting cooler I usually start crocheting. We did have a few cooler days so I got the blanket out that I had started for Sophie before she was born. For some reason It never got finished, so now I'm making it larger than I originally planned. It's purple and now I'm making a white trim around it. She'll be able to use it this winter. Crocheting is such a relaxing activity, this fall I'm going to learn how to knit. We have one week till we start school. I'm now thinking about all those things I wanted to do before the summer was over. Where did the time go?! Hopefully, we'll go the the lake someday this week. |

It's been rough not having a computer. My hubby fixed one of the computers up really nicely, then after one day the power supply went. So, I don't I don't have much of a chance to blog, hopefully that will change soon. Isaiah is going to be in the musical "Just So" that Andrew is performing in this coming November. Isaiah loves to act and has been asking to be in a play. This is going to be a full length musical with lots of dancing. He learning a part of one of the dances at his audition and he's been practicing everyday. What has blessed me so much is that Andrew has been encouraging him and working with him with the singing and the choreohraphy. Because of the age difference, my oldest son and Isaiah don't seem to do very much together, so this is wonderful for them.

The last few days we've had some wonderful family times. The weather has been georgous! It's been warm with a nice breeze. My hubby took the kids to the park one morning and later that day we enjoyed the outdoors at our home. Yesterday, I took the kids for a long nature walk down a trail near our house and I let the kids take their time looking at the trees, insects, flowers and just being in God's creation. We start school in two weeks and I've come up with a daily schedule. I hope to post it here soon. My hubby says it's the best "beginning of the year schedule" I've come up with yet. I'm looking forward to starting school. I have mostly everything we need, but I still have a few books to order the first of Sept.

I have spend the last 2 days doing spring cleaning and organizing (I didn't get arround to it in the spring :) . I can't seem to stop! I'm the type of person who can let things go for a while and clutter will start taking over, but once I'm in the cleaning mode I usually keep going untill everything is shiny clean and back in order. It's amazing how many toys you can accumulate when you have 5 kids! It doesn't help that at our dump you have to walk through the " still good shed" to throw out your trash. I always seem to find at least one little "goodie". This past week I found a stack of educational computer CD's-ones that the kids really like-and five of the "A Series of unfortunate Events" books in excellent condition. Yesterday, Sophie and I made some more beaded jewelry. It was very relaxing. Boys are so great, but I'm also enjoying having a girl. When I had bought Sophie some beads at wal-mart once, while we were waiting in line, she told the person behind us that "mommy and I are going to do girlie things together" it was really cute.

The last couple days have been really humid. The temp has been near 100 degrees. The heat doesn't usually bother me, but these days it does. Good thing it's not like this too often here. When I haven't been running errands, I've been out in the kiddie pool with the kids. Sophie will stay out there all day if I let her :) . Today when we were finished in the pool we gave Paige a bath. I have been drawing closer to God these past few days. We've had some trials lately, and I had been starting to get a little down, which isn't like me. I've been praying a ton, reading my bible everyday and I'm starting to have more faith. Today I started really thinking positively about different situations. I like the verses in Jeremiah 29 that say: "For I know the plans I have for you," declares the Lord, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you a hope and a future. Then you will call upon Me and come and pray to Me, and I will listen to you. You will seek Me and find me when you seek me with all your heart." |

I am so proud of my 10 yo son, Isaiah. He volunteered to read to pre-schoolers at the library once a week for the summer. Today was the last day, and he was reading to five kids at once! My oldest son, Andrew, signed up for Book Buddies last year and this year. I'm very proud of him, too. It's so great to see my kids taking time out of their week to read to little ones. |

My computer has been having lots of problems. My dh has been faithfully trying to fix it, but it's still not wroking. Anyway, we went to see my son, Andrew, in Godspell Jr. the last 2 nights. It was awesome! I've never seen Godspell before but I thought these teens were great. Andrew had a main role (Jesus) and he has never sang before an audience before-actually I take that back, he played guitar and sang at a coffee house once-I think he did a great job, and I'm so proud of him!

The last few days have been kind of hectic, but here some little blessings that happened. I spend some time outside with Isaiah and Charles on a beautiful day. I made beaded jewery with Sophie. Christian even joined in and made a "boyish" bracelet. Another director noticed Andrew ,while he was at play practice and asked him to audition for a play called "just so". I'm happy for him because he loves acting. I took Christian to a to a large parking lot a let him ride his bike. It was so relaxing to just sit outside and watch him ride. My hubby has told me I'm beautiful so many times over the last couple days :)

One of the bedtime stories we've been reading lately is "How to Make an Apple Pie and see the World" by Marjorie Priceman. It's a cute story that includes some geograpghy and a recipe for making apple pie. This morning Christian insisted that we make an apple pie (he didn't have to twist my arm: ) We had fun making the pie and we also talked about fractions. I usually stay away from making pie crust from scratch, but this was very easy to make. And the pie came out delicious!
