Please pray for baby Dillon

Posted in misc

My 20 yo cousin  just had her first baby yesterday.  One hour after he was born he stopped breathing and they've had him on machines and been working with him since. They said if he wasn't better by noon today they were going to fly him to a larger hospital.  I haven't heard yet what they decided to do.  Please pray for baby Dillon.

My cousin's name is Fawn.  Her husband has been serving in Iraq and he is only here for another week, then he goes back.  She was raised in a Christian home, but I don't know how strong her faith is.  Please pray for her that she will draw close to God. Thank you so much. I'll post an update when I hear.

1. What is your school's name and why?
We don't have a name. I've brought it up a few times over the years and the kids didn't come up with anything. Mabye it's time to bring it up again :)

2. How is your weather today?
It's 77 degrees-partly cloudy. Very nice!

3. What steals your joy?

When I worry about things..

4. Name 5 blessings you received this week.

a. We had a great school evaluation.

b. We received the title to the car that was given to us.

c.When putting Isaiah's portfolio together, I came across a worksheet that he had written "I love you, mom" at the bottom.

d. Seeing my 7 year old reading to my 2 year old.

e.My 2 oldest kids were able to go to a large amusement park with a good friend.

5. Favorite scripture passage?
Psalms 139, Philippians 4:4-9

6. Who in the Bible do you think you are most like?

I told my oldest son that I thought I was like Martha of Bethany.  He said, "no mom I think you're more like Mary (her sister)."  Wow, did that make me feel good!

7.The last passage of scripture you read was:
Colossians 1:13-14
For He has rescued us from the dominion of darkness and brought us into the kingdom of the Son he loves, in whom we have redemption the forgiveness of sins.

8. Have you ever praised God for something weird?

Yes, I praised Him for a terrible trial I went through because it brought me closer to HIm.

9. If you were to make a greeting  card for God, what would it say?

"Thanks for always being there, Lord.  I love you!"

10.What is the best miracle God has performed in your life, or what is your favorite answered prayer?

When my 3rd son, Isaiah, was born, he was born not breathing and without a heartbeat. Immediately there were doctors all around trying to resuscitate him. Then my husband put his hands on him and prayed, and  his heart started beating!  Isaiah spent a week in ICU and the doctors told us there was a good chance that he would have brain damage. Praise God, he just turned 11 and he's perfectly fine!  God is good!

11.What is the most fun thing you have done lately?

Spend time outside with the kids with my feet in the kiddie pool.

12. How did you choose your screen name?
I'm always interested in how many kids people are homschooling, so I included how many kids I have in my screen name.

13 Name 5 people you will tag!

MamaDuke, sparkshomeschoolmom, TwaddleMeNot, jillconnlly, southmsmomof4

This is great way to trade books online!  All you do is post 9 books that you want to trade, you then get 3 free book credits so you can choose 3 free books right away (the sender pays for shipping).   Using the seach page you can browse and search the PBS library by title, author or genre.  When you find a book you want you just click the "order this book" button and the book is sent to you for free!

When someone requests a book from you, PBS will e-mail you letting you know that someone wants your book. You can choose to accept the request. Then you print out the wrapper and wrap the book.  If you have stamps on hand you can mail it right from your mailbox.  It usually costs $2.13 to mail.  Everytime you mail a book  you get another book credit.

I have recieved 11 books, mostly books we use in our homeschool.  You can click the PBS button on the right if you want to check it out.  If you do decide to sign up please give my name (TLCmom) as the referal and I'll get a free book credit.  Thanks!

All right. Here are the rules.
1. We have to post these rules before we give you the facts.
2.Players start with eight random facts/habits about themselves.
3. People who are tagged need to write their own blog about their eight things and post these rules.
4.At the end of your blog, you need to choose eight people to get tagged and list their names. Don’t forget to leave them a comment telling them they’re tagged and to read your blog.

Here's eight random facts about myself:

my son the actor!

Posted in misc

I'm so proud of my son, Andrew!  He is playing the role of Jesus in "Godspell Jr. "  with the local Boys and Girls club theater group. He's always wanted to be in a musical.  They just finished  performing a play called "Big Bad" and he played the big bad wolf.

Andrew is a great actor and very funny onstage.  He attributes this largely to his participation over the last 3 years with NCFCA- a Christian speech and debate organization.  They have speech and debate clubs all over the US and they have regional and national tournaments.  Andrew went to the national tournament  in Texas this year.  He didn't make it to semi-finals, but it was a great experience for him.

A puppy is a wonderful thing :)

Posted in misc

We are so happy to have our puppy, Paige!   She is already becoming part of the family.  The 3 older boys rotate taking her outside about once every hour or so.  Fred and I  also take a turn here and there.  She is a wonderful dog, even little Sophie is very comfortable with her and loves her.  She does all the typical puppy things-like chewing our shoes (and anything else she can get a hold of!)  but she is so adorable, we just love her!
