Town Day

Today was my day to come into town-how Little House on the Prairie is that?  We woke up this morning, ate breakfast, and after helping Chris work on his car we headed into town.  Ahhhhh, the small town, simple life-I am loving it.

To back up a bit-Chris headed to Central Oregon early Friday morning.  The kids and I stayed at the house to clean and do some shopping.  The days here are longer than they were in Oregon and we enjoyed the long days of sunlight.  Not having a TV or computer to distract us, we spent many hours hiking, playing games, and watching for wildlife.

Late Saturday evening Chris arrived back home and parked the U-Haul in the driveway.

Sunday and Monday were spent unloading and unpacking-I have never seen my children work so hard.  They heaved and hoed and got the job done.  By early Monday afternoon our house was unpacked, everything in it's place.  My home is beautiful and I am still standing in awe of all the Lord has provided.

I am still trying to get a grasp of the off the gird thing.  It is already evident that we are in desperate need of more solar panels.  We are looking into that today.

As I write this I realize that I am leaving out so many details-the essenence of what life is really like out here.  I forgot to tell you that we watched big horn sheep and a heard of 20 elk from our window the other evening.  That I watched the most incredible moon rise.  About my cooky nieghbors and the fact that I lock nothing.  That I do my laudry at the PUB and SUDS and that this town is so small I already know a good many folks.  About the kids hunting, picnicing, and their other crazy adventures.  I am going to resolve myself to journal on the computer everyday and then come and upload here onto my blog once a week until I can get interent service up where we are.

I love it here.  I still can't believe that I get to live here, in my dream home, in my dream spot-I know I am blessed.  After 8  long months we are settled, normal life can begin again-whatever that looks like!

Tomorrow we are heading to Virginia City to watch the Virginia City Players.  We will eat breakfast at our favorite breakfst spot, wander through the old town, and stay late for fireworks.  What a wonderful way to enjoy our country's birthday.

You unpacked FAST. I could have used some of those big helpers when we unloaded. Glad you're enjoying the home and getting settled. Off-the-grid completely. Ahhh. Some day. :)

It's sounds like everything is going really great for you all!! I'm so glad to hear it. I'm trying to catch up on some blogging since our vacation and all the other busy stuff that's happened, including a minor virus. I'm still waiting for it to settle down.
