Off the Grid in the Montana Rockies

Bummer

Well, the land that we stumbled upon was not as it had first seemed.  For starters the actual land for sale is only 49 acres, not 160.  This is a huge difference when we already own 22.  But more than that, the land has been for sale for years and it is obvious why:  the guy is asking a small fortune!  The land is beautiful-complete with flowing waters and waterfalls, but not $$$,$$$ beautiful.  So, we will wait.  Perhaps in a few years the owner will drop the price or would accept a lower price...which is great considering I have a lot of saving to do!

Nothing too exciting going on today.  It is colder than cold and we haven't seen sun in well over 24 hours.  When I go outside I can hear the hum of generators all around.  Expensive days for those of us living off the GRID.

Since I have little to write about today and because I was tagged by my friend Heather (who by the way is giving away a fabulous candle) I give you the following MeMe:

A bit about me:

1.)  What I was doing ten years ago:  I was a much different person than I am now.  I was a young mom and a young wife and liked to do things my own way.  We had just moved to a new town and hubby had taken a new job.  I was knee deep in toddler stuff and it wouldn't be long before God would show me His way for being a mommy and a wife.

2.)  What I was doing five years ago:  By this time I was well on my way to being the woman I am today.  I had mended relationships and was in my 2nd year of homeschool.  I knew that 'bringing public education home" wasn't the answer.  I learned from aged homeschool moms about Charlotte Mason and was loving life!  About this time we really started to feel Montana tugging at our hearts.

3.)  One year ago:  We started making our way to Montana.  We made plans and started to see them out.  I wasn't as prepared as I should have been, but Montana was on our minds...we were just waiting to see how the Lord would work out the details.

4.)  Yesterday:  Ugh...how boring!  Woke up, made breakfast, read aloud, taught lessons, did a load of laundry, taught some more lessons, fixed lunch, played with the children, did some training, made dinner, talked with my mom, cleaned up dinner, took a bath, read, lights out!

5.)  Five snacks I enjoy:

  • Cheesy Salsa Dip and Chips
  • Brie and Apples
  • Blue Cheese Wedge Salad w/Toasted Pine Nuts
  • Creme Brulee
  • Cheesecake

6.)  Five things I would do if I suddenly had $100 million dollars:

  • Support NGJ in their translation of Good and Evil
  • Move my parents close to me
  • Build my dream house as close to YNP as possible
  • Help my children in starting their dream careers
  • Backpack through Europe

7.)  Five locations I would like to run away to:

  • The Inn at Cape Kiwanda
  • My parent's house
  • A small out of the way inn in France
  • The Thorofare of Yellowstone
  • A deserted island

8.)  Five bad habits I have:

  • Spoiling my children
  • Talking too loudly and too often about conservation
  • Sleeping in
  • Eating junk food
  • Letting my dog Maddie get away with naughtiness

9.)  Five things I like doing:

  • Wolf watching
  • Reading historical fiction and stories of women pioneers
  • Baking yummy seasonal treats
  • Traveling and road trips
  • Hiking in beautiful places with my family

10.)  Five TV shows I like

  • The only TV show I watch is Survivor

11.)  Five things I hate doing:

  • Listening to ignorant people
  • Smiling when I am angry
  • Cleaning up dog messes
  • Watching a family member in pain
  • Waving good-bye as hubby leaves for a business trip

12.)  Five biggest joys of the moment:

  • Walking in a blissful marriage
  • Teaching my children history and science
  • Reaching out to a hurting neighbor
  • The fall season
  • Planning my Virginia trip

Who am I tagging?  No one...but feel free to use this and if you do, let me know!

Enjoy today!

I'm not surprised to hear about the price of the land.

I enjoyed reading your meme.
