It is snowing again here in Big Sky Country, but memories of a warm weekend are still fresh in my mind. This past weekend we saw temperatures soar into the lower 70's. I felt my bones defrost and found myself saying "this is why I will endure long winters". It is gorgeous here and there is no other place I would rather be. On both Friday and Saturday mornings the elk decide that OUR backyard was the place to eat breakfast. We watched them from our deck and upstairs.
On Friday we were delighted to watch the American White Pelican migrate while a Steller's Jay serenaded us!
Saturday and Sunday we spent exploring other parts of SW Montana. Our travels took us to the Missouri Headwaters State Park, Madison Buffalo Jump State Park, Ennis, West Yellowstone, and Bozeman. Here are a few pics from those spots:

An American White Pelican soaring with it's lunch While the snow is expected to last well into next week, I will hold these warm days close. You know, I survived my first Montana winter. One older women told me last fall there was no way I would make it...few do. Well, I did and I can't wait to reap the rewards this summer. |
