Adventure Awaits

Posted in Myles - grade 7
The boys have just left on an adventure. Myles got a bee in his bonnet a few weeks ago and wanted to go on a camping trip on horseback. So, they made arrangements with our elder, they're riding down from our house to theirs, 30 miles, will camp there, and then come to church in the morning, spend the day with us, then hang out with friends afterwards. On Sunday mid-afternoon, they'll come home.

They've got a midway point at the Frostad's to camp at if they don't make it all the way.

I really wish Phil from the Amazing Race was following them with cameras so I could know everything about their trip, alas, I'll probably never know. They'll tell me the highlights, but none of the itty bitty details, nor the intimate conversations of struggle and endurance that they're going to have.

They're both wearing big backpacks, and the tent is strapped to Aragorn's saddle. They've got food and clothes....

Now the waiting game.. I have to wait excitedly until tomorrow morning to see if they made it all the way.

Am I crazy? Letting my 13 and 14 year old sons go off like this???

Not crazy letting them go off like that. I think it sounds wonderfully interesting. I too wish they had a scribe with them. If they were into blogging, they'd have pictures taken all along the way.
