The water from the dugout has been on the smelly side the last week or so, you know, smelling of rotten eggs; so when The boys gave Janney and Asher a bath earlier this evening, I smelled that smell and asked for some nice smelly something to be put in their bath water. Trent brought me a candle, and then put lavender oil in the bath.
But that's not the source of the stinky water unfortunately. Nope, you see, it's been raining all day. The rain is coming in through the roof, ..... and backing up from the septic. SIGH!
So, Stuart is suddenly reminded of the $700 pump he didn't buy in the spring - which NEEDS to be bought now, and that the septic needs to be pumped out. He's also starting to think the roof needs reshingling - not just a patch job.
There's no end to the expenses of a house and family is there.
I would imagine you've already thought of this- but we've been able to get our septic to go a little longer by diverting everything but the toilet into the field. Just the toilet goes into the septic. And our field is really green in one area still, LOL!
We just had to chlorinate our well because we were growing an iron producting bacteria ~ Everything I read said that there weren't health dangers, but my-oh-my did our water stink.
Praying for the water/septic/roof situation. Wow ... a dugout!
Yes, I'm in KS. And yes, there are too many contests, giveaways, and group participation things to keep track of. I decided not to participate in the homeschool week this week that the front porch promoted where you post on a different topic each day.
Anyway, hope you find solutions to the water problem ... and that you find an answer to the other issue very very soon. :-)

I am Sombra, and these are the stories from our house. We're a Messianic family where academics often take a back seat to the work and adventure of life.
