I arrived at my naturopath appointment today with a complete record of my last months BP readings twice a day, and records of taking the recommendations she suggested. We were both happy with the readings, realizing there's still room for improvement, but happy none-the-less.
She's added a B6/Multi B vitamin to my list as well as taking a multi-vit just for those days when I don't feel like eating. She wants me to snack more - I haven't put on any weight yet.. or if I have, it's only a pound or two.. but certainly no significant weight.
She also wants me to exercise LIGHTLY daily - meaning, 5-10 minutes on the elliptical, no tension, low speed. She doesn't want me to WORKOUT - just get a little exercise to get the blood flowing.
Finally, the most important thing. She took my BP with her cuff and stethascope - 128/85 - GREAT reading considering I had driven through a snowstorm to get there. Then about 5 minutes later, I took my BP again with my electronic cuff - 149/95!!!! WHY SUCH A DIFFERENCE?
When she took my BP, she held my arm at her waist, so that my arm was the same height as my heart. When I took my BP, my arm was hanging down, meaning gravity was adding to the pressure!
All my readings last month were taken this way! - So, I guess my readings really WERE GREAT instead of just good enough.
I'm looking forward to seeing what BP's are like when taken the right way. She wants me to rest my arm on a table when I'm taking the reading. WOW.. Who KNEW!
This morning, taking my BP according to HER way, 127/82 - isn't that NICE!
By the way - ABBY - I love that you visit me here, and thank you so much for your blessing and encouraging words
I lost all my e-mail addy's - so if you've ever e-mailed me before and you'd like me to have your e-mail on hand for future communications, please drop me an e-mail so I can put you back in my address book.
I am so glad you had such great readings. And that you and the half-pint are growing well. I am sure just knowing that it is so much better will help to keep it lower. Just pay attention to those I need something salty days. they are a good indicator that things are out of sorts.
Have a rest full non-driving in snow storms kind of day.
Everything sounds Great (except for driving in the snowstorm, please be careful)! I am so happy you and little one are doing so great! I know how worried we can get when we are not sure if everything is coming along righ and how awesome it is to hear everything is doing great! I also knew about the BP thing, but I took nursing. At least now you know how to do it right. I am praying for you and the little one.
BTW...I love all the names you've given me, but I especially like the last one...Ya'el! Not sure what dh will think. He's out of town and will be home tonight.
