Total Eclips of the Moon

Remember that Pink Floyd song?

Anyhow, a few days ago, so many of us stared out the windows, or went outside occasionally to look at the moon disappear and reappear.

These are the images my boys captured, compiled into a collage by Rourke using Photoshop.

Picture #1 looks like the camera moved as the shutter was open.
#2 and #3 look like they were taken at a similar time

Pictures #4-6 were nearly missed.. the original larger photograph included the yard light.. but upon closer inspection, the completely eclipsed moon was found.  That #6 has a white line, which is the electricity line to the house from the power pole.

Then #7-9 are very interesting, as you see the moon re-appearing, however, the shadow  seems to be rotating as the moon moves across the sky.

Of course, the photos aren't crisp and clean, because our camera only has a 3X zoom, so Rourke had to enlarge the photos and crop out about 90% of the picture.

But, what I liked was the way he layed these out, with a chronology to them.   He's my Photoshop guy.

That is so neat and you were very lucky to see it!! We weren't so lucky and were covered in a thick cloud so hopefully we'll be able to see it again in 2010 :) I'm glad you shared your photos!

Oh thanks for sharing your photos! We tried to see but only got a quick peek before it clouded over and started to snow.

Oh I have another package of goodies I'm hoping to get off to you this week.

What GREAT pics! Thank you so much for sharing. We were barely able to see it as it was too cloudy over here. Did you also get to see Saturn? We were not able to see that either. Very dissapointing for my dc. They were glad to see the pics your dc took. Tell your boys thank you.

BTW...thank you for the site. Now just please pray that I find a doctor as here in FL it is very hard to find a doctor willing to do it. I think I found a doula who is also studying to be a midwife. She is trying to set up an appointment for me as I write this to see if I am able to do this in a Birthing Center she is currently working at who have back up doctors in case of an emergency. She is speaking to the owner and head midwife at the moment.
