BFS #18 Dreams

I thought this week we could write something fun or just take a look back at our lives and what we wanted to do when we were so young!   You can add pictures if you want, but I'm not just because I don't have much time to do that.  I may add some when I return from my trip.  I always thought I wanted to be a famous Gospel singer and other than that I wanted to be an executive secretary or court reporter.  One thing I always knew was that I wanted to be a wife and mother.  It'll be fun to read about what everyone thought they would be doing when they were young...did you ever think you'd be homeschooling?  Add a verse to go with your assignment too please.  Have a wonderful week!

As a student in Marketing at University - my DREAM was to buy a small advertising agency, hire uneducated people and train them in the skills of advertising, and encourage them to go off and start their own businesses.

NOW - I hate Advertising, I loath it, I loath the industry.  What I loved was the creativity. What I loath now is the consumerism, the belief that products can make us happy, that buying stuff can sooth our woes.

The part of me that was altruistic and wanting to help people, God has given me plenty of other ways to serve his children, both those that know him, and those that don't.

Psalms 31:1-8
1 For the leader. A psalm of David: In you, ADONAI, I take refuge; let me never be put to shame; in your justice, save me! 2 Turn your ear toward me, come quickly to my rescue, be for me a rock of strength, a fortress to keep me safe. 3 Since you are my rock and fortress, lead me and guide me for your name's sake. 4 Free me from the net they have hidden to catch me, because you are my strength. 5 Into your hand I commit my spirit; you will redeem me, ADONAI, God of truth. 6 I hate those who serve worthless idols; as for me, I trust in ADONAI. 7 I will rejoice and be glad in your grace, for you see my affliction, you know how distressed I am. 8 You did not hand me over to the enemy; you set my feet where I can move freely.

So interesting to read this! I know just what you mean. My kids are the really creative type, and I could picture them doing really well in advertising....but it can be such an evil industry to try to find a niche in. Better to just find a way to use all that creativity for the Lord, eh?

I so agree about the world of advertising - it seems a very "dog-eat-dog" environment!
So glad you have found other ways to channel your creativity.
God bless,

I can't stand the ad agencies either...it's taken all of the spiritual meaning out of our holy days. I do love being creative and you're right God does provide many other means for our creativity. Thanks for the comment on my daughters baby too...I am with you on that as well. I would not want to know the sex before the birth either...whatever happened to being pleasantly surprised. Thanks for sharing from your heart.
