We're in the middle of God's Spring Feast, the appointed times of Passover, Feast of Unleaven Bread, Feast of Weeks and Pentecost. Last weekend we were invited to participate in a Seder with a group of other families, so that I wouldn't have to do all the preparation in my pregnant state. The Seder service was great, a little tradition, added to lots of scripture reading - and lots of explanations for those who attended who were not experienced with Passover Seder.
Since Saturday we have been eating without leavening - no yeast, no baking soda, no baking powder - that means lots of Matzah bread and rice cakes and last night, to go with my Thai chicken and spring rolls, I added Parantha bread - which has no leavening.
Meanwhile, we started counting the Omer - the Feast of Weeks - last Sunday evening - which means we're on day 6 of counting the Omer - there are 50 days to count towards the day of Pentecost, which is called Shavuot.
These feasts talk about the past, the present and the future. Not only does Passover remind us of Moses bringing the people of Israel out of Egypt, but it also talks about the work of Messiah on the cross. The feast of Weeks shows how long it took for the Israelites to walk from Egypt/Goshen, to Mt Sinai, it also talked about how long it would be for the Holy Spirit to come upon the believers in Jerusalem after the death and resurrection of Messiah. We count 50 days from his resurrection to the infilling of the Holy Spirit.
The Fall Feast talk about the past, present and future too. In the past, they were the feasts which were done after the giving of the commandments at Mt. Sinai - Feast of Trumpets, Feast of Atonement, and Feast of Indwelling/Tabernacles. Messiah has not yet fulfilled these feast, but will do so in the end times.
The small details of the feasts really teach us about Yeshua - the Messiah. Everything about the Passover Seder had us looking at the Messiah, how He saved us from Mitzrayim - Mitzrayim is the Hebrew word for Egypt, but it's also can mean West - and any reference to West in scripture means apart from God, or walking away from God.. So Messiah saved us from walking away from Him, changed our direction and put us on a path towards Him.
James 4:12There is but one Giver of Torah; he is also the Judge, with the power to deliver and to destroy.
