Housekeeping
When Regina was here the other day, we were talking about housekeeping. Now, please don't think I'm offended at all by anything she said, I know I need help, and I know I need to be more disciplined in my homekeeping efforts, but as she said, sometimes you don't see things because you grow use to the mess.
In service yesterday, the guy leading the commentary said that when he went to Israel, he found so many of the Jews lived a secular life. They said, "If I can't keep the whole Torah - then why bother trying" They had a defeatist attitude, instead of doing the baby steps to walk in God's ways, they gave up. I sometimes am like this in my home. If I can't keep it 100% clean and tidy, then why bother trying - and so it goes to pot!
So, when I asked Regina where she would start if she were to help me re-organize this kitchen, the first thing she pointed to was the window sill. It's one of those catch all places, and it had all kinds of little doodads that for the most part, I could throw out. It also had lots of dead bugs and dirt. Regina, you'll be pleased to see this!

I also cleaned the inside and outside of the window. I had Trent go out with the hose, spray it down, and with a long squeegy pole, he wiped the outside - all the cobwebs and bugs and dirt, and I washed the inside window, now I can see out that window!
Another area that was full of clutter was the top of my dishwasher. Here's the finished product (well, almost finished)

There's still a few bags and jars in the corner of the counter that need to be dealt with. And most of the clutter on that brown table is cleaned off. Rourke is making Colloidal Silver (Stuart and Asher have runny nose colds).
Since waking up this morning, I have cleaned this kitchen and floor - which meant about 3 loads of dishes, washed two loads of laundry. Dressed Asher, written a beginning list of chores for the boys (that's the red pen and paper on the counter. Myles has written 3 thank you notes for his birthday gifts, Rourke has helped with the kitchen
Here's some area's that still need to be worked on. The shelves need to be weeded through, and the tabletop has too much junk on it, the toaster has crumbs all around it, and the stuff on the floor needs to be more tidy.
This is a fairly simple job, the boys just need to put away their backpacks, but the shelves should be re-organized and dusted, and the floor swept under that table.

The top of this fridge and the other fridge both need cleaning, there's too much junk up there. My family is really good and using flat surfaces as dumping spaces. 7 dumpers, one mama to keep it under control - this is the story of my home, I get so tired of having to see the mess, having to delegate, to oversee to make sure the instructions are carried out, and then moving on to the next job. But if I want a tidy house, I have to do more of this, and not give up.
God wants us to obey his teaching and instructions. Just because I fail from time to time doesn't mean I can give up. Yes, learning to eat Kosher was a process. Learning to keep the Sabbath was a process, Learning to keep His Feasts was a process.. just as learning to keep a tidy house is a process. - And you all are my accountability!

I think I have been inspired to write my own post about this...
