The boys have realized that they're going to have to add some hours to their work week. They have so many boxes to get done before they start harvesting the honey, and every time they work thorough one set and feel like they've accomplished something, Rick brings in another few stacks. And they have barrels yet to wash.
So, in order to get on top of the job, they've added two hours to every day - starting at 8 instead of 9, and coming home at 6 instead of 5. This means they're going to need more food to fuel them through this 10 hour day.
So last night, on our way home, I stopped to buy some steaks from the butchers, they were clearly exhausted and starving. I went in asking for round steaks, but somehow came home with a whole tenderloin cut into steaks. OH they were so YUMMY! - PURE BEEF!! Excellent. There was extra for lunch today too.
But, now they're seriously going to need extra snacks to keep them going 10 hours. So last night I made two different types of muffins, strawberry rhubarb with walnuts, and chocolate chip. There were 3 dozen muffins, so I hope they have taken enough with them. Trent also wanted to stop at the gas station to get some Mountain Dew - seems theres caffeine in that drink and he's hoping it will wake him up a bit. He's not into Coke or Pepsi - I reminded him that Barq's has Bite! he could go that route if he wanted.
Today I'm going to make a Lamb Stew and make CERTAIN that it's ready for them the moment they walk through the door. Those poor boys, this is going to be a tough month - but lucrative!! They won't mind the pay check when it's in their hands!
And tomorrow I'll have to go shopping so I can stock up on food for these boys!!
