BFS #119 - Be All That You Can Be (US Army)

Thank you to those of you who were praying for our family. My husband is home, not quite fully recovered, but he's home and mending. He's reading a bedtime story to Janney and Asher as I type this, they're very happy to have him home.

Memory Verse: 1 John 4:16 (NIV)

And so we know and rely on the love God has for us. God is love. Whoever lives in love lives in God, and God in him.

Intro: Sometime “being all you can be” is a challenge.  We are trying to balance being a godly wife, mother, teacher, keeper of the home,  and much more.  None of us are perfect and we all struggle in our own ways with being able to achieve what we feel needs to get done.

Assignment:  This week I thought we could share what great ways we have found to help with all we have to do.  Besides the obvious getting face down in front of God, what have you found that works?  Have you done a great bible study that deals with this area?  Do you have a certain “thing” that  really helps you like a planner or gadget?  Do you have a certain bible verse that just speaks to you and you have it posted so you see it all the time?  Is there a website that is really valuable to you in this area?   What do you do that if someone else found out about it, they could benefit from it?

What's the biggest help to me  Teenage boys.. but that's not too helpful to you young moms, so I guess I need to share some other helps.

Click the book cover and read the first devotional.  This lovely book was given to me when I was a young mom with three small boys and a new stay at home mom, pulling my hair out trying to figure out how to manage it all.  This book taught me that everything I do; holding a sick baby, cleaning the toilet bowel, or making the meals, it was all Holy - all service to Adonai, all a for of worship to God Most High.   I learned to not resent these thing, but do them with a thankful heart and a joyful spirit.

I think our biggest obstacle to efficiently managing our homes is our attitude. If we hate the work, we're not likely to want to do a good job, nor even make an effort.  When we do it because we're doing it for God, as an act of love and devotion.. when we do it as an act of love for our families..then getting that "round tuit" is much easier.

Colossians 3:23
Whatever work you do, put yourself into it, as those who are serving not merely other people, but the Lord.

Sombra,

I had to learn that everything I do as a stay-at-home mom is valuable. It seems that culture and my past life had taught my brain some un-truths.

I am still sometimes tired and still feel like I have less time to spend alone with God, but I share God with my kids and that is important too!

So glad your hubby is home and doing better. I know from the past how hard that can be on a person. Your book sounds very interesting. Thank you for sharing it with us.

I have never heard of that book-but boy do I know a few gals who could use it. I will see if Amazon has it.
As for around here-yes, maybe we are sharing the same hospital ward? Lung hackings, fevers, whining and just plain ole sickness-stress. Ewww. The sun is out today and boy does that help! That and a well stocked medicine chest.....hope your gang is doing better!
