#125 Let Your Fingers Do the Walking (Yellow Pages)

This assignment is long, and will take much time to study and complete. Basically it's a word study.. go to the BloggerFriendSchool.com page to see the complete assignment.

My word I want to study is fire. As you can see, my header photo is of a flame. I want to work on the header photo and bring my blog graphics to a deeper meaning.. and it's starting with this word study.

The Hebrew word for fire is Aysh - it's written in Hebrew by the two letters Aleph and Shin.  Gesenius describes the word Aysh as

1) fire

a) fire, flames

b) supernatural fire (accompanying theophany)

c) fire (for cooking, roasting, parching)

d) altar-fire

e) God's anger (fig.)

Strong's Concordance says fire, burning, fiery, untranslated variant, fire, flaming, hot

As I was looking for information on Aysh, I found this at Ancient-Hebrew.org

Every noun is either masculine or feminine. An obvious masculine noun is אישׁ (iysh - man) and an obvious feminine noun would be אשׁה (iyshah - woman). As can be seen in this example the suffix ה (ah) can be added to a masculine noun to make it feminine.

I found it interesting that the Yod is inserted into the word Aysh to make the word Ish for man.. and like Sarai changed to Sarah.. and Abram changed to Abraham.. Ish is made into Isha by adding a Hey.. but that Aysh is there..

The Letter Alpeh has a meaning of:  Strong, Power, Leader The original pictograph for this letter is a picture of an ox head - representing strength and power from the work performed by the animal. This pictograph also represents a chief or other leader. When two oxen are yoked together for pulling a wagon or plow, one is the older and more experienced one who leads the other. Within the clan, tribe or family the chief or father is seen as the elder who is yoked to the others as the leader and teacher.

The letter Shin has a meaning of: Sharp, Press, Eat, Two This letter has the meanings of teeth, sharp and press (from the function of the teeth when chewing). It also has the meaning of two, again, both or second from the two teeth.

The modern Hebrew name for this letter is shin, a Hebrew word meaning tooth.

We call God the Consuming Fire - and yet when Moshe walked up the mountain, he was not consumed by the Fire, nor was the burning bush consumed

A blurb from Bill Bullock -

Sh’kan is clearly the Hebrew verb Y’shua had in mind when He told His talmidim to ‘abide’ [some translations say ‘remain’] in Him. See John 15.  The first letter, shin [which makes the ‘sh’ sound], is a pictograph of flames, or tongues, of fire.  The second letter, kaf [which makes the ‘k’ sound], is a pictograph of a bird, with wings cupped as in descent.  The final letter, nun sofit [the form the nun takes when it is at the end of a word], is a Hebrew pictograph of the ultimate son or heir – Messiah.  The ‘mural’ formed by these pictographs is, thus, the tongues/flames of fire [shin] descending as a dove [kaf] and resting upon Messiah [nun sofit][1].  Hence, the familiar word sh’kinah [composed of the verb sh’kan, with addition of the suffix hey], as a reference to the manifestation of the presence and glory of the Holy One. Every such manifestation presages, and speaks of, Messiah.

[1]  A beautiful picture of this is seen in Matthew 3:16, where as Y’shua arose from undergoing mikveh at the Yardin [Jordan], a manifestation of the Holy One descended, and came to rest, upon Him much as if a dove had lighted upon Him.

And more Bill Bullock -

Relating the Shulchan and Menorah to the Aron

Note that both the Table and the Menorah of the Mish’kan also represent, and constitute reminders of, one of the contents of the Aron. The Table of Shewbread represents the jar of manna kept in the Ark, and thus the faithful and miraculous provision of the Holy One for His people. The menorah represents the Light of the Torah, the tablets of which are the Ark’s most treasured contents.

The essential teaching should be becoming very clear:  Man does not live by bread alone, but by every word which proceeds from the Mouth of the Holy One.  Deuteronomy 8:3; Matthew 4:4.

If we merely eat the physical bread which He provides for us [if we merely seek Him for His miracles], we will die in the desert -- as did our fathers. But if we sh’ma [listen with open minds to, hear, pay attention to, heed, and receive with gratitude] His words of life, and sh’mar [cherish, treasure, highly value, and carefully watch over, guard, and protect] His instructions for living, and asah [interact and build with, as a potter interacts and builds with clay] the mitzvot and mishpatim He designs for us, do you see what awaits us:  we will dwell in His presence, we will eat at His table, and we will walk in His Light.

Without the Fire of God - we can not eat the Bread of Life - we can not see his face..

I'm beginning to realize that like Shadrach, Mishach and Abednego, I too am standing in the fire - I am not being burnt up because I am in HIS fire, in His Shekinah Glory as I walk in His light

Both of those basically say the same thing-
And when he had given thanks, he brake it, and said, Take, eat: this is my body, which is broken for you: THIS DO IN remembrance of me.
It would be better to read the whole passage.

So, why do you think it is unscriptural to take communion?

And also, be careful about leaving "organized" religion. God still calls us to not forsake the assembling of ourselves together and also gives clear requirements for pastors so there is supposed to be a leadership or sorts. Unfortunatly, most people don't realize that the leadership is not a controling thing but it IS for guidance. Like a shepard leading his sheep. NOT for total control and domination (I picture here a factory sheep place where there are thousands of sheep that are poorly cared for and have no room to move that are just there until time comes to slaughter them).
I also think the church is to be an individual church unlike many of these churches that are controlled by one mother church. That is not scriptural. There was no one mother church in the Bible to control the littler churches.
Home churches can be good, if that is what you are leaning towards, but not when by yourself with no biblical structure. There are "positions" to be filled. Just be careful if/when time comes for you to leave.
It can be hard to make decisions because if you stay in a church that is totally unscriptural it feels wrong but to leave and church by yourself is also wrong. We go to church but can't "join" because the churches are so far off today. But we go because God says to.

That is pretty cool! We are in the fire. I never would have though of that. Isn't it neat what Jesus did for us? What is that verse that says something like where we were once Yah's enemy and "far off" now we are brought near because of Christ. With Him and surrounded in the fire of his glory like Moses and the other three (S,M,A) and yet not burned.
