The ceiling has been reinforced, and now the upstairs isn't so sloped.
This door frame is now supported by a proper header and crutches.
This is the second pocket door installed, and some of the wiring re-done
The kitchen is coming along.. I know some people think this is moving too slowly.. and they couldn't cope, but I am managing most days. The cabinets aren't even in yet, so we're still moving at a good pace.
We did a major remodel last year. Like childbirth, the pain of the numerous trips to Home Depot and Lowe's has finally subsided. And now we're getting ready to do it again in a 2nd home we have with the intention of my mother moving in once it's complete. Good luck to you with the remodel!

Your project is coming along great! I wonder if the people who think it's progressing too slowly truly understand all the work that you're doing. This is much more than a simple kitchen remodeling job.
To Susan [I wonder if the people who think it's progressing too slowly truly understand all the work that you're doing.]
We moved in our house 6 years ago. When we bought the house the basement was unfinished. After days of house hunting we had the list narrowed down to about 5 houses. All the other houses were "finished." When we weighted the pros and cons of each house, we felt that the basement in this house could be finished in about 18 months. We are still not done. I don't know that anyone beginning a renovation has a realistic idea of what is involved, how much work it takes and what the finished cost is.
That being said, I think Sombra's "labor pains" are well worth it. A kitchen with adequate storage and a good work flow is a wonderful blessing!
I am Sombra, and these are the stories from our house. We're a Messianic family where academics often take a back seat to the work and adventure of life.
