I've just read this blog post and really would love to share it.. though I don't want to "lift" it and post it here, so please go to Peaceful Parenting and read this blog entry.
Wow! What a wonderful story of her time in Mongolia and the HUGE difference in breastfeeding between ours and their culture. It's a shame that it isn't the same here and that there are so many different ways that others make you uncomfortable doing something so amazingly natural and good for our babies. I've been quite shocked by some of the seniors that will give you a dirty look for breastfeeding in public and I would think that they would be among some of the most sympathetic since they've been there and done that.
It's just like co-sleeping. There was a news type program on the other night where the panel of 'experts' discussed the extreme unsafe practice as they called it of co-sleeping while one lone panelist was advocating it. Another shame because I think there are many benefits to co-sleeping as well and did it with all 3 of my babies and there are many cultures that openly accept it as a standard way of life. I just don't get it!
Thanks for sharing it Sombra :)
Hope you are having a great weekend!

I am Sombra, and these are the stories from our house. We're a Messianic family where academics often take a back seat to the work and adventure of life.
