Thoughtful Motherhood

Stewing

Instead of stewing over this ridiculous blog post on submission (or should I say "anti-submission) over at Today's Christian Woman,  and writing a really negative and preachy response to it (which I reserve the right to do)...I'm going to refer you to a hilarious post by BooksandBairns.

I have to agree with you - that article on TCW was absolutely ridiculous! Sometimes, they have very strange articles in their magazine and online! I've been a subscriber, but don't know if I'll renew or not.

I loved all the pictures of you and your babies! So cute! You are absolutely right - cuddle those babies as much as you can! The time just flies by!

God bless!

I couldn't quite put my finger on it but when my sister got me a "gift" subscription to that magazine a couple of years ago, I just couldn't read the articles...and no I am not going to feel guilty for placing them in the burn pile!

Can you believe young ladies will read that and think oh it's a christchun mag so it has to be right.....I mean I don't agree with abuse, if a lady is submitting to that then yes she needs her head examined but submission is beautiful and good when the husband is loving his wife as Yeshua loves us, HE was willing to die for us, if your husband is not also looking out for you and you for him, something in the marriage is off base.

but that lady is young, doesn't know the evils that tv truly can bring, just wait til she has kids and all the shows you suddenly have to block.

This article made me stew. I did post a comment there. I was so frustrated. I can't believe that there are people out there on "christian" websites posting this stuff. Don't we get enough of a twisted view from the world, do we have to also get it from "christians"? WOW, was I mad!

Wow

Firstly, I must say that I am completely disappointed. Yes, some women will go to that website and believe what the woman has written as truth because the magazine bears a "Christian" label. But - this woman has at least taken the time backed up most of her argument with scripture - and that being said, she is not far off on a lot. I do take point with her on a few issues (I do not agree with her believing that women can lead the church as pastors/teaching elders/etc).

BUT NONE of you who commented even took the time to conduct your own study on biblical submission - or share it with us. You, have simply posted judgments - which other women will read, not taking the time to look at the scriptures, and ignorantly accept as truth - because you all say you are "Christians." For shame.
