California's Anti-Homeschool Law

If you haven't heard, California has "banned" homeschooling. The ruling is being appealed, but it is causing some serious panic among homeschoolers.

Check out the links to see what's going on.

The consequences of this are serious. While I'm not going to panic, I do think we all need to be seriously fasting and praying for the future of our country. With legislation like this plus the possibility of a president who doesn't respect the rights of the parents, our families could be in trouble.

America is probably headed for great judgement. We need to prepare to live like fugitives. Because it could come to that.

I read about that earlier this week on the hs board I visit. Scary stuff, and should take us to our knees.

You mentioned judgment. I wanted to share with you a word the Lord had me share with our church. I think it could easily be for all the churches in America. He revealed to me is that He is looking for a church to repent for the sins of this nation. The church has been lazy, allowing homosexuality and sexual sin to become rampant in this nation. We have stood idly by while millions of babies are being aborted. Our leaders continue to snub Israel, instead of defending her. We are blessing Ishmael and cursing Isaac by our behavior and we are in grave danger if we don't repent.

Permission?

Hey,
Would it be alright if we made a report about this on our blog, the Insider? We just would like to quote and give a link to your blog, as well as the links you provided, to let everyone know. =)

legally...

I don't really understand why you are upset by this. If you had been upset at the CA legislature when they passed the law, I could understand that, but this is a different story.

The article you link to references no new legislation. It is just a court ruling - an enforcement of laws already in place. The family was evidently breaking the law (although this will be up to the CA Supreme Court to decide) and got caught. It is their fault, not the courts, for breaking the law.

Furthermore, this doesn't matter much for the rest of the country - unless the Supreme Court condones CA's ruling and the federal legislature passed a similar law.

All in all, sucks for folks in CA, but doesn't do anything to anyone else. If you don't want similar legislation in GA - vote, talk to senators/representatives, etc.

My use of the word 'ban' was incorrect. However, California homeschool law is complicated and interpreted differently by various entities.

Homeschooling has essentially been illegal in California for awhile. However, parents have been able to homeschool under a private school exemption. This one ruling has put that exemption in jeopardy.

Typically, the liberality of California law and/or lifestyle oozes its way into the rest of the country over time. This ruling 'sucks' for the entire country because we must protect a parent's right to make choices for their children withtout the interference of the government.
