Public School officialsHere's a disturbing article about a homeschool-preacher dad who killed his wife and stuffed her in a freezer. http://www.cnn.com/2008/CRIME/07/31/preacher.freezer/index.html The district attorney in the case said "Part of the mystery here is that, apparently, none of these children were in school...Home schooling, under this situation, removes almost any chances of us catching up with these kinds of things until there is a catastrophe." As I've written before, one huge function of the public school system is to "protect" children from their parents. Public school officials and teachers dislike homeschooling because they believe that there is no one watching out for the best interests of the children. I understand that this situation was horrendous. But what about all of the public school kids who are abused or who've witnessed a crime? Why aren't we up in arms about them? When you hear of a non-homeschooled child who is abused, the news rarely mentions that the public school system 'failed' to protect the child. So, why are homeschoolers put under such scrutiny? 8:55 AM - Aug. 1, 2008 - post comment
