Popping the Standard of Living Bubble

Read this. http://www.takimag.com/blogs/article/the_standard_of_living_bubble_and_why_its_about_to_go_pop/

Great article and so true. We all need to get used to the idea that stuff doesn't grow on trees. I am excited to see how this plays out. It really is a very exciting time to live in. Watch and see.

You want to see Britain, we have seen houses rise by more than 10 times their value in the last few years alone. People have mistakenly thought that their house was earning them the equivalent of 40/50,000 dollars every year. How can a house, in real terms earn more than you earn? It is crazy.

that article answered one of my questions. I always wondered why so many cars were made when it's not like they fly off the lots daily.

yesterday the owner of the mechanic shop was telling me that it was UAW affiliated auto manufacturers that caused the health care costs to rise....instead of paying their employees more money back in the 40s/50s they gave them something called health insurance that didn't cost the auto manu. at first because it was new. down the years we see docs not letting people just flat out pay and instead you have to have insurance, even though let's say a procedure costs $160 but the ins will only pay $60 ... the doc is willing to take that "loss" from the ins company but will not give the patient the same deal. so we go ahead and pay $700 a month in health ins premiums so we only pay $15 at the docs ... if and when we need to...bogus?

History?

Is the reason you feel it is exciting because of the history being made?

The comment by Noahsmom is so true as well. And it is difficult to see with how it will be worked out with how the country is going. We own our own business and our insurance is well above $1000 a month for our family, and we pay half of the insurance for four employees as well. It just keeps going up. I think it's the same phenomena. People think they deserve the most technologically advanced medicine at every term and the costs just keep going up. And, somehow, they think the costs will go down if the government takes over the whole thing?! I am guilty of causing the costs to go up. Of course, if it is available to me - I want every test and the best of every test and a nice doctor's office to visit to boot.
