Rejoice and MournRejoice with those who rejoice; mourn with those who mourn.. Romans 12:15
When faced with someone else's suffering, we sometimes want to make a joke or lighten the mood. This, really, is such a selfish and unbiblical way to treat someone who is mourning. When we do this, it is for our own comfort, because watching someone mourn is painful and it reminds us of our own humanness. It reminds us that life on Earth, even while serving a great and mighty God, is filled with heartache. I think that makes us Christians a bit nervous.
The Bible tells us to mourn with those who mourn and rejoice with those who rejoice. I have had much pleasure in rejoicing with my loved ones who were rejoicing. And I now have much sorrow to mourn with them as they mourn. 2:54 PM - Mar. 12, 2009 - post comment
