Awana program at my Church
Awana is a program that I'm involved in at my church. There are different clubs for different age groups. In each different group you have books which have Bible verses you have to learn and recite to the teacher, and questions about things in the Bible you have to answer. There are many other things such as things you have to decode. Sometimes you are assigned to spend extra time with your family members throughout the week. Some assignments are about helping people, and you also have to learn and recite the books of the Bible. As you complete sections in your book you earn stickers to go on your badge which you get when you begin the book. Once you are done with the book you get a patch to go on your uniform, then you can begin a new book. At the end of the year they give out awards for the people who have completed their books. At the club meetings we play games, sing songs, and say verses we've learned.
Sometimes I get to go in a younger age group and help out with the kids. I like to do puppet shows for the kids. It's really fun because the kids smile and really seem to enjoy it when I'm in there with them. I think I would like to be an Awana worker when I grow up.
This year we had a Grand Prix race one Saturday. We got to make our own cars, paint them, and bring them to the race. I made my car look like Lightning McQueen from the "Cars" movie. My brother made his car to look like Jeff Gordon's race car, and my sister's car looked like something that Nancy Drew would drive. I won 4th place in design and my brother won 3rd place in design. It was really cool to see all of the kids cars and to get to see what they had done with them.

Little John's Fall Party
Chapter 1
Tell Me About the Party
Little John is having a party. He's invited all his friends, and his cousin Shane who is two years older than Little John. His mom is on the phone with his cousin's mom. "No scary things", said Little Johns mom to Shane's mom. "The party begins at 5:00, and there will be blow up slides, games and cake."
Chapter 2
What Shall I be ?
It was one day later when Little John asked Dad, "What could I be?"
"Hmm," thought Little John's Dad. "You could be a baker."
"No!!!" said Little John.
"You could be a Football player."
"No!!!"
Little John's dad gave him a lot of suggestions, but he didn't know which one to be. Just then his mom said, "I think you should be a principal."
"Great idea!" said Little John.
Chapter 3
Getting Ready for the Party
The next night was the party. About two hours before the party Little John was panicking. He knew what he was going to be, but not what to wear. "Mom what should I wear?" asked Little John.
"Well, principals usually wear a suit."
"I know!" said Little John. He ran into his room and shut the door. He put on his Sunday suit. He ran back out of his room. "What do you think?" asked Little John.
"You look great!" said Little John's mom.
"Thank you" said Little John.
Chapter 4
The Party
Later that night there were games and a blow up slide inside of a castle. Lots of Little John's friends came including Shane. The party started at 5:00 and ended at 9:00.
"Mom," said Little John "I had a lot of fun and I'm tired."
"I am too," said Little John's Mom. "Let's go inside and go to bed."
