Highlights of our first week!

Posted in Homeschool Adventures • Sep. 7, 2006

We have had a VERY good first week of school!  Here are some of the highlights:

* Taking pictures in front of the tree in our front yard on the first day of school.

*  IHOP...'nuf said!  (thanks again, Cindy!!!!!)

* Violet has had a WONDERFUL attitude in apporaching her schoolwork... thank you, Lord!

*  We are LOVING the Story of the World!  What a huge difference from A Child's History of the World we did last year!

*  I am actually enjoying doing things with more structure, and we are already getting lots done with me having lesson plans... it is working out a lot better than the no-plan method of last year.

*  That being said, I love the flexibility we have!  I love tailoring what we are doing to each child, stopping when we want to, and following the "rabbit trails"!

*  Dash climbed UP our FIVE SHELF boookcase in our new schoolroom, and it did NOT tip over onto him and Jack-Jack who was playing right in front of it... a weird highlight, but thank God for His protection!

*  Love our new room- I think we all do!  I am so glad we changed the basement around to use for this!

*  We LOVE Math-U-See so far!  LOVE IT!  LOVE IT!  LOVE IT!  It is SO much better than what we used last year, which shall remain nameless but is also the name of an Asian country LOL;)

*  Just being together as a family.  We are enjoying our time together so much!

* Blogging!  HSB was a highlight of my week this week because you all have encouraged me so much, and I thrive when I have people around who care what I am doing, because then I want to post what we are doing and it keeps me accountable to do it.

THANKS!

I'm doing a lot of cheerleading lately on your blog! LOL I am so glad to see that things are starting to smooooooooth out for you. Guess what! I've got a different kind of message board on my blog- you can access it here: New Message Board, Come Talk to Me!

Bookmark the link, we can talk! It'll be public but did you hear me? We Can TALK!!! I cried and cried today and I cuddled him so much. It's only hair I know but with my mil's cancer and my dh's shaved head too- it was too much. I bawled like a baby! I'm okay now, he just looks so funny. IT better grow back by Christmas picture time!

BBB- Thanks for the hug!

Bookworm #2 has scaled the heights of bookcases in this house more times than I can count. He simply has no fear - just really busy angels. Yesterday, he climbed the OUTSIDE of a play structure at the park, instead of using the ladder, because didn't want to walk around the structure - he just wanted to be up on the platform. Praise the Lord we don't have a cliff in our backyard - he'd be scaling it.

I'm glad you had such a terrific week!

I may not comment much but just wanted you to know I enjoy reading both of your blogs. It seems like there's a lot of trial and error as moms and teachers. But thank the Lord he made our kids resilient and has so much grace for us.

I am always checking in on what's happening with you so I'd like to just add you to my friends list.

I love the pictures too!

Josh was my climber and everywhere we went everyone knew his name within five minutes of arrival because I had to use it so often. Josh, get out of the tree, please! Some kids just want to explore their surroundings on ALL levels.

I'm so glad your week went so well! Wow! about the bookshelf...God was protecting your little ones! I abandoned by loosey-goosiness from years past for more structure...it is a lot better...we get so much more accomplished in all aspects of our lives now.
