I need your help with a fun idea!

Posted in My Random Adventures • Sep. 19, 2006

Calling all you wonderfully creative moms out there.. I need some help!   As you may know, I am a Creative Memories Consultant.  We just got a new product called a StoryBook that is really cool... basically, you sit in front of your computer and pop your digital photos into these really awesome templates, and then you can write anything you want in any font you want to go along with it...then they send you a book, like a children's book only a lot nicer.

My problem?  I want to make a book to show my clients what they look like.  But I am having a problem choosing what kind of book I want to do first!  I have heard of people doing ABC books for their kids where each page has a different letter,  I saw one that had pictures with very cool quotes, it was for a husband with pics of him and his wife, kids, dad, etc.  My friend did one of her outdoor adventures.  I have also seen some where people put pictures with song lyrics or poems.  All of those ideas sound really cool, and I have thought of more too... so I need some help!

What creative ideas can you think of that would be neat for me to do?  I would LOVE to hear your ideas, whether you have read my blog a long time and have specific ideas that you think fit my family, or whether you just have generally cool ideas.  Just tell me your ideas, because I want to get this book ordered this week to be able to share at my next big event!

Thanks!

Hmmm, how about a comic book theme? Like Super Dad as a Father's Day gift...Dad doing all his super things...holding the kids as babies, helping them learn to ride a bike or roller skate. Or a Super Mom for Mother's Day....or Super Kid

Ok, ok, so I stole the idea from your blog name! Can't fault a gal for trying!

Or, what if you made it look like a passport book and did a trip...honeymoon or family trips over the years, etc.

Whew! I've taxed my brain for one day :)

what about one for a toddler or homeschooler that chronicles a day in his life? I have been meaning to do this as a scrapbook spread..but a whole book would be cute. Pictures of him waking up with graphic of the time, then getting dressed, eating breakfast, ect. Just a thought,

What about a theme based on a favorite story book? I don't know how that would work out, exactly, but it sounds like fun to figure it out! I tell my kids when they want me to do any part of the project that they're working on, "That's your job. That's what makes it fun!"

I'm pretty simple when it comes to photo albums, in order by date...but I would like a "School Year" book for my children. With school in session and pictures about to be made, it would be perfect timing. That's not very original though.

Sorry

What about a scrapbook based on a vacation or trip, that would not only have appeal for families, but other customers who might not fit into the family genre!

BTW I used to be a a CMC, I miss it, but it is not right for this season of my life!

I used to be a CM consultant too! I was on my way to Unit Leader when I felt the Lord calling me away for this season.

Have you ever tried a faithbook? One of my favorites that I did for each of my children was based on the books "God's Little Girl/Boy" by Elizabeth George. Basically, I made each scrapbook page a different character trait as depicted in the book and then I found photos and stories from my children that showed that trait. These were always very popular at my shows and crops. Let me know if you would want more info

Well, that's my two cents. We have so much in common. I'm sure we'd be fast friends! =)
Warmly,
Joni

My "baby book" for my poor third child is pretty thin! My oldest had a ton of stuff, my middle has a fair amount, but poor Rebecca, my youngest, doesn't even have a first year calendar that's half way filled in. Maybe while Jack-Jack is still an actual baby you could create one for him?

I've always wanted to do a scrap book for my kids revolving around our extended family that lives farther away (for us its EVERYONE). That way they can see Grandma or Grandpa or Auntie or Uncle or Cousin anytime they want...just open the book. I always worried they would forget what those loved ones looked like because they get to see them so rarely.
