overwhelmed...

Posted in My Random Adventures • Oct. 5, 2006

I am way overwhelmed with things to do at the moment.  I am burning the candle at both ends, giving up sleep, and still coming up a day late and a dollar short in everything.  I have already cut the number of commitments to a bare minimum, and all the things I am doing are things my family really needs... things like cooking, cleaning, menu planning, etc, plus kids, school, and home business (which is truly a need in our situation to keep me from having to work outside the home.)

I figure other people do this and much much more, I must be missing some important bone or gene or chromosome or something, because I just can't seem to get on top of it all, ever!

Maybe I should do the wife swap thing with the condition that whoever comes to my house has to whip it into organization while they are here! LOL!

Speaking of that, I will do the tag soon!  Looks fun!

Oct. 6, 2006 - This is a common feeling here, too...

Whenever I start to feel this way I shed stuff! Even if this just means I pack a ton of kids' toys/books/out-of-season clothes into a large box (or two--or ten!) and hide it (them) somewhere (basement, attic), this helps me to feel like I have more control over my surroundings. Also, the kids enjoyed it when we "found" a forgotten box of stuff after months (maybe even a year) of not having to pick up all that stuff!

Also freezer cooking is immensely helpful for when life is especially busy. You don't have to prepare dozens of meals for this to be useful either. When I know I'm going to actually be HOME for a few hours I will put a pot of chili together in the STOCK POT and then after we eat some that night I scoop meal size portions into gallon-size zip-loc bags and lay them flat in the fridge. The next morning I shift them to the freezer. They last a really long time and I can have a meal in minutes when life becomes rushed.

I can relate... If you ever get caught up will you let us know? I don't think that phrase has been in my vocabulary since I began homeschooling! (or atleast since baby number 4 arrived).
