Feb. 15, 2006 - Something to be Thankful for
I was thinking today, about how tired I am of being everybody's Scheduler I have to tell my kids "eat breakfast, take a bath, put on clean clothes", kinda tired of being everyone's brain also, I mean why is it MY job to remember where you left your shoes? (by the way they're on the back porch with your jacket in the rain)
I'm also their conscience "don't talk to your brother that way, Is that your toy?, do you need to apologise?"
It seems no one really wants to be in charge of himself.
I'm getting kinda tired of making the day to day decisions, Of course Mr. N makes all the big decisions (and I'm so very thankful for that) but he leaves the day-to-day stuff to me. and sometimes I feel a bit overwhelmed.
I don't wanna be in charge either
Enough whining, here's where the thankfulness comes in.
I'm so glad that God is in charge!!
He doesn't make me muddle along on my own. and He doesn't need me to keep track of things for Him, and He doesn't need my help with His schedule. (what a relief for the mommy brain) He has given me a whole big book (and His Holy Spirit) to show me what He wants me to do in ANY situation. and it's pretty thourough. if it ain't covered in the Bible, and if I don't hear a "still small voice" then it's not something I can mess up because all the important stuff is in there, and He'll never leave me (He promised) so He'll tell me,if I'll listen, when He wants me to do something differently (even if it's not a "doctrinal issue")
Wow do I ever feel better, like a whole load has been taken off me.
Excuse me a moment while I go get my son's (soaking wet) coat off the back porch before it freezes there.
Mrs. N

I read the beginning of your blog on the homepage and laughed! Thanks, I needed that. So I came to read the rest and laughed some more. I also appreciate the truth that God is in control and I am not. I think that I have thought or said many of those things to my 3 boys as well.

Hello! Thanks for visiting my blog. I am really enjoying yours and would like to add you to my friends list. I don't know if you saw my profile, but I'm a 29 year old SAHM of two boys in WA as well.
I know what you mean about being "The Brain". It wears you out having to think for yourself and everyone else!
Take care!

It does help to know that HE is in charge, doesn't it? Especially this time of year for me when I am tempted to be impatient because I get burned out of school. Thanks for the reminder! I have felt the same way........Am I always my brother/daughter/son's keeper?
Blessings,
Becky
