Blogger Friend School #7

Our assignment this week is to blog about your plans for Thanksgiving Day.....share your day in any creative form. Please try to include family traditions, your menus, who carves your turkey, do you save the wishbone, the list could go on and on.
Our plans are to go to my SIL's house around noon and eat and hang out :) Our traditions? Well, they are changing now that we have family in town, but our tradition has been to have salmon, crab legs, shrimp, rolls, green bean casserole, cranberry sauce & salad for Thanksgiving dinner. I don't like turkey much and it has been hard to find hams small enough for the 4 of us. The kids never ate enough meat on Thanksgiving to make it worthwhile to buy anything big, for a while we thought DD was going to be a vegetarian (they are just now 6 & 7 remember). So, that has been our tradition - we even have a turkey platter that we put the salmon on ;) This year, we are taking green bean casserole, crab legs and scampi to my SIL's house. Her family does not like seafood (she is the only one) so they will not be eating it but I will get my crab legs & scampi :)

Hi :) My name is Rachel. I am a stay at home wife and homeschooling Mommy of 2 (soon to be 3). 1DS is 7 1/2, 1DD is 6 1/2 and a baby is due May 9 ( I m guessing more like late April). DH and I have been married for 11 years, "together" for 14 years :) We have a dog and a cat (sadly I am just about positive I am allergic to DD's cat, trying to decide what to do there! Any ideas other than getting rid of the indoor cat?).
We own our own business and are in year 5 now I think....I am losing count! how can that be? It could be year 4, but I think w are in year 5. We love it. We all help out when needed and I do the books once a week, usually on Friday but that may change to Saturdays I think.... i am trying to figure out now how all that will work out when baby comes and am guessing that DH will just have to bring the bookkeeping home for me to do a few weeks before the baby is born and a few weeks afterwards as well.
I started blogging to share our journey with family and friends. The majority of my family lives in VA, KY & WV (some scattered in a few other states but immeiate is in VA mostly). DH's family is mostly FL & OH. His sister just moved here about a year ago and his parents are putting their house on the market the first of the year in order to move out here (his mom is really excited about the new baby - all 6 of her grandkids will be in the same place, a 10 minute drive from each other actually). So, I started the blog to document our day for family to read. If you take a look around it did not end up being that way. I share my thoughts with those interested and share devotions that I find helpul from time to time. I want to start writing again, that has always been a passion of mine so i have made a category for it, we will see i I do it here or not ;)
My Dream Home? I MUST have a wrap around porch. I want a turret as well. I love the house Tamara has on her site! I want a country home but not too far from the necessities as I am no green thumb and the outdoors (being from the bug ridden humid east coast) is not really my friend. Although I am getting better after living in CO for 11 years! LOL I want a huge walk in closet and a jacuzzi tub in my master bath. A Master bath is a MUST as well. I want a reading area in my room. I want the laundry up with the bedrooms - I want all bedrooms on the upper floor. I want a school / play room to keep all school supplies and games in (legos and lincoln logs too). I can not find a floor plan to fit my specs so I am thinking I will have to find the closest thing and tweak it ;) Lots of windows (easy to reach to clean) for lots of lights. A fireplace that is in kitchen and family/living room. I am not too picky am I? I am sure that if I sat here and thought about it more that I would think of many things to add. I want lots of land but a fenced "personal" yard.
Gotta go order Chinese for dinner ;)
Nice to meet all of you!
