Jul. 4, 2006 - Planning out the New School Year!
Since we'll be starting school at the end of this month (July 31st), I have spent a good portion of the day scheduling out our August and part of September school. I have everything I need, with the exception of Math for Jaedin (although I have enough to get by for a couple of months, I'd like to order a new curr. for him for 4th grade math), Rosetta Stone (ebay!), and a typing program for the younger kids.
I have all my August plans and first two weeks of September charted, organized and printed out. It just looks so organized and efficient:)
We will be starting co-op on the 18th of Aug. so I really need to get to planning our art class as well. I'll be teaching art to 7 or 8 girls, ages 5-9. I need to go over some artists that we didn't do last year and gather together some projects to go with thsoe artists.
Some Notes:
Subjects (all younger kids together)
Bible: Finding Our Roots by Ruth Beechick, Trial and Triumph by Richard Hannula (assorted passages)
Typing: Type To Learn, Typing Instructor Deluxe (working towards the privilege of a blog:)
Spanish: Rosetta Stone
Konos: Determination: Explorers, Polar regions, undersea explorations, Mountain climing, etc. Great Feats, Man Made Wonders (dams, tunnels, bridges, towers, etc.), Atoms, basic chemistry, and that's where I stopped scheduling and planning for today!:)
Writing: Learn to Write the Novel Way, Timeline Pages, Thank you notes, reports
Read Aloud(s): 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea, Puddin'Head Wilson by Mark Twain, The Children's Plutarch (selected stories), Shakespeare (both the children's versions of several plays, as well as one unabridged play)
Artists/Composers: Vivaldi (already have CD of his) others?? Artists (in progress)
Reading:
Kainan & Jaedin: Kon Tiki by Thor Heyerdahl, The Incredible Journey, The Hobbit by J.R.R. Tolkien, and probably a couple of lighter reads in amongst the heavier stuff.
Paris: Matilda by Roald Dahl, A Little Princess by Frances Hodgson Burnett, American tall Tales by Adrien Stoutenberg, Caddie Woodlawn by Carol Ryrie Brink, Magic Treehouse Books (for a break between the hard books!
Abyni: Dr, Seuss, Eric Carle Books, Fairy Tales, Little Critters books
Math:
Kainan: Algebra 1 GraspMath
Jaedin: 4th grade MathUSee or Making Math Meaningful (we haven't decided yet)
Paris: 3rd Grade math workbook
Abyni: 1st & 2nd grade math.
And my Schedule Pages are as such (hole punched to fit with tabs in my Konos Binder ~ open up so both pages are visible at the same time...) Doesn't include math, spanish and typing obviously:)
