Aug. 30, 2005 - School Day, Science, Artist (Monet)

Yesterday we did a basic school day. The only thing different was planting our seeds in dirt. We had put them in glass jars with the construction paper holding them up to the glass so that you could see them grow... and they grew like mad. So yesterday we "really" planted them.

We gathered leaves, practiced identifyng them (monocot/dicot, type of leaves, type of tree, etc) Then we did leaf rubbings.

And we read some books about Monet ~ and did a Monet Puzzle. We used to do a different artist every coupld of months, and then do a painting/project in the style of that artist, and the kids have been asking to do that again... and so, since we all enjoyed it, I chose Monet for this month, since he loved painting scenery, plants and water a lot, I thought it would tie in nicely.
