Sep. 2, 2005 - Fly on the wall

Tagged!

"You have to tell what your day TODAY was like...really! Not what you wish it'd been like or what you'd planned for it to be like, but how it really turned out. Be sure to title it "Fly on the Wall" so we can look for those blogs. Tag about five or so friends and we can all have fun being a fly on the wall of someone else's homeschool for a day.

I got woken up at 1am by the toilet TANK overflowing.  Of course, I couldn't see where the water was coming from because I didn't have my glasses on.  By the time I went and got my glasses, Dh had woken up and pretty much stopped the flowing water.  The float had decided not to work, so the water was just pouring over the top of the tank.  I'm so glad that didn't decide to happen when we weren't here!

Thankfully I got back to sleep quickly.

I was awakened at 7 by fighting cats.  Our "old" cat Elephant (about 7 months) is having issues with our "new" kitten Boo (2months).  Fun.  ALmost as fun as beng awakened by children fighting... that hasn't happened for a long while though... so that's good.

After trying to get back to sleep for a bit, and listening to Elephant whine outside my door because I wouldn't let her go "play" with Boo, I gave upa nd got up before she woke the kids.

I made myself a coffee (I LOVE the espresso machine Dh foudn at a garage sale!) with French vanilla coffee beans and sat down to read Clive Cussler "Vixen 03."  After a while I checked my emails and felt so awesome when two women that I've always admired had responded to my game night emails with such nce things to say about me.  I just felt so nice to think that these amazing women think kindly of me.  Odd, probably, but I just never think of myself as impressive or important "enough" or good enough or whatever, wo that was a nice start to my day...

It helped to combat the major CRAMPS I was having.  I wish that had stayed with the teen years.

ANYWAY ~ the kids finally started getting up at 8:30 and 9.  Sprite made oatmeal, I realized  had no low carb bars left, so I had bacon and a little leftoer oatmeal.  Everyone ate and did their chores, I started a load of never ending laundry...

School started at 10 (I was too engrossed in my book to notice that 9:45 passed) and we had Bible time, devotional and worked on our memory verses from Aug and this week.

Then we went on to the Secret Garden.  Its almost done, one chapter left.  I wanted to read the end so badly... I don't even know what happens... but I want to experience it with the kids so I'm not bored reading it for the second time.  And I want us to have something to do on Monday.

The kids did their reading and Math while I fixed lunch (burritos and ramen noodles ~ last of the lunch-type groceries before tomorrow!) then we all had recess ~ I read my book:)

After lunch we worked on the plant and the animal lapbooks, whch are looking really cook, btw:) and watched a nature crafts video.  The kids read about Monet briefly and then we were done.

I wrote out emails for the game night I'm hostng/organizng and answered other emails.  Then I had a short nap:)

Now I'm here doing this, wondering hwat I'll fix for supper... and whether the clothes are dry, and whether or not I'll really have room for the 20 boys that are showing up in a couple of weeks!

*and*

Answer these questions yourself and then send this to five other people.

Are you following any special diet right now? If so, what?
Trying to do the low carb Atkins style thing which I have done for over a year...but fell off the wagon after 1 year... and am still tryng to get back on.  I'm having a hard time with a sugar addict for a husband.

What food do you love that others usually think is gross?
Hashbrowns, Cottage Cheese and over easy eggs mixed together (YUMMY!)

beets (the only food I've ever known my Dh to hate!) as well as mac&cheese with pork-n-beans mixed up.

How many magazines do you personally subscribe to?
This Old Schoolhouse.  I also read my dd's Reader's Digest and Woman's Day occasionally.  I WOULD subscribe to Good Housekeeping and Practical Homeschooling if I had the $$.

What is your most favorite article of clothing, and how often do you wear it?
My jeans from Kohl's... although now they have a hole in the knee:(  And my Eskimo Joe's tie dye glow in the dark tshirt... I look sloppy in them, but they are so comfy.

Do either you or your husband still have clothes from High School or college hanging in your closet? If yes- do they still fit?

I did three years ago before we lost everythng... and they didn't fit then, but probably would now.  I'm not that much bigger than HS, just saggier!!:)

What book are you reading right now?
Just finished "Vixen 03" will probably start "Night Probe" also by Cussler, unless I hit the library first.  I wonder if I have enough gas to get there and back??

Name an odd thing you have on your kitchen or bathroom counter.
Just one?

4 disposable cameras from the summer that need to be developed.
