Nov. 24, 2005 - Thanksgiving Day Past... present...

Well, its Thanksgiving again...

Someone posted to one of my lists this morning that if we have a change this year, we should still be thankful and remember that it takes 2-4 years for changes to become "settled." This made me kinda laugh, as we haven't had the "same" routine for T-day for at least 6 years. Heck, we've rarely been in the same state/house/situation at all!

2000 ~ New baby:) Tulsa, OK, ended up having take out chicken brought by Sprite's father (who was visiting from IA).  We had just moved from Iowa to OK 10/27/00. Had a baby 11-16-00, and I wasn't in the mood to cook!

2001 ~ Thanksgiving in our house in Broken Arrow, with friends Lanette & family whose husband was stuck in Brazil after 9-11... Sprite's dad, stepmom (a very good friend of mine), step sister who were down visiting (Sprite's birthday is always close to T-day) It was a wonderful Thanksgiving... I loved having a full house!

2002 ~ Thanksgiving at a friends house in Tulsa, as we were then living in the bus. We all hung out, the kids watched Spiderman. We ended up with a turkey nowhere NEAR done, so we had side dishes and dessert for lunch, then had turkey and side dishes and MORE dessert for "dinner" That was a fantastic Thanksgiving as well!

2003 ~ Thanksgiving in TN. With our "hosts" We were still living in the bus (and its on my LJ from last year) who paid for a full dinner and I got to cook! Yay!! I was Soooo in the mood to bake that year! We helped them decorate for Christmas afterwards.  A definitely blessed holiday:)

2004 ~ Thanksgiving back in a house again. Our rental in Broken Arrow, with a big blessing from friends who dropped off a box with fixing's for a full Thanksgiving dinner. That really saved our holiday that year, because we really had no other feasible way to have a nice meal at all. That was a sweet holiday, but I definitely missed having the big houseful!

2005 ~ Thanksgiving in our NEW HOME! Yippee!!

I'm still thankful... although I don't try to save up being thankful for one day anyway, so it really becomes a feasting holiday more than anything. We've spent the whole month taking time to talk about what we're thankful each day, and that's been nice. Of course, we've also had a LOOOOT to be thankful for this year too:)

Then again, even with all the good stuff, I'm kind of having a bit of an adrenaline crash here. I was SO not in the mood to make pies or anything yesterday! Thank the Lord I taught the kids how to bake! Paris and Abyni made the pies. I had to cave and buy premade piecrusts because my stupid gimpy wrists won't let me do much of anything with my hands at all. ANyway ~ we made two pies and a tiny one for a taste test, and it was pretty good! Yay!

Dh's retail boss gave us a 21 pound turkey for Thanksgiving this year, so its been in the oven all morning (WHY oh WHY didn't we just say yes to the fresh one??? Those things take FOREVER to thaw!!) The sweet potatoes are boiling so I can't get the skins off... and I'll have the boys make the green bean casserole. I'm taking it easy this year, no homemade noodles:(

Well, my hands are losing it again (even after stopping for three breaks in there!), so Happy Thanksgiving to all!
